Today was a great day! It started off with the local electrical co-op techs, coming by and hooking us up to fibre optic service for phone, TV and Internet. We will have the same service plus much faster Internet (100MB), for $35 a month less than we have been paying for satellite TV, phone, and rather slow internet(6MB). The internet is fast enough for streaming now, and the phone and TV are crystal clear.

Then, I have been "negotiating" with a neighbor over a nearly new Husqvarna riding mower (24HP, 48" cut), and we settled the deal today for almost a thousand less than the mower would have cost me at the store. He bought a big zero turn mower and decided to sell the lawn tractor...he seems to have money to burn. The Husky is virtually like new, and he only put 20 hours on it....so now I can mow my huge yard in half the time.

I think I'll run out and get a couple of lottery tickets this evening...my luck usually isn't this good.

I watched a couple of hours TV this evening, and was quite pleased with the improvement in the picture quality. Fiber Optics sure seems to make a difference...the TV picture is better, the phone is crystal clear, and this computer goes from site to site almost as fast as I can type. The best part is that we will get it all for less money.

Nope, shouldn't have to worry about falling off this....It has nice armrests on the seat, and is very comfortable. I just came in from playing with it all morning...cleaned it up, lubed everything, then ran it around the yard for an hour or so. It looks like I got a real bargain on this mower....its hardly broken in, and everything seems to work real good. Now, some forum time, then hit the shower.

Oakapple- it's called a yard in the US because that's what it is- if it weren't the yard, it would be part of the field. Lawn is what grows on the yard.
Actually, I don't know why we call it the yard, but that's what it is here. Interesting.

I've needed to get a bigger mower for years....I mow almost 2 acres. I looked at the Husqvarna mowers many times, but they were always a bit more expensive than I wanted to pay. I was hoping to find a year end bargain, because my old Snapper was quickly reaching end of life. When the neighbor said he'd part with this Husky for the price of a cheap Walmart mower, It didn't take me long to give this some serious thought...and so far, I find nothing wrong with it.

Yup, a cup holder on the right rear fender...now I can fill a water bottle and have it handy rather than having to stop and go back to the house to get a drink.

Amen! For me, a bad day is having to stay in the house all day glued to the TV or computer. If the weather allows, I am outdoors puttering around for several hours a day. Taking care of this property is a full time job, and it is the best Health Care plan I've ever found.
