Parts Of Louisiana Experiencing Massive Flooding, 3 dead

Oh, That's terrible. Wish they could send some of that water out HERE. We need it.

I can see the day coming when it may be necessary to build a major pipeline from the Mississippi river to the desert SW. Places like Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Los Angeles are going to be in dire straits in coming years if these recent weather patterns continue, or worsen. There's enough water flowing down the Mississippi every day to keep the SW satisfied for months. Spending some serious tax money on such a project would make more sense to me than trying to police the world.

Horrible. I hope that those people get all the assistance they need to get back on their feet.

Update, death toll rising, scope of flood expanding.

Diverting some Mississippi water isn't a bad idea and they already altered the region by over building the area ie building on what should be a natural flood plain and construction causing more run off. I lived near an area where they built a shopping center which only took about 1/4 of a marshy area yet the flooding problems it caused for people near a creek, sewer system or under ground aqua fur was stunning. They had to build a a series of small dams in a near by park and turned that into a flood plain after the fact.
