The evolution of the wristwatch in your lifetime

Starting with a stem wind Bulova to a self winding Lucien-Picard, and now a battery operated "cheapo" from Walmart, I have run the course and won't be moving on to smart watch as my time runs out...

I found that digital watches with various ways to use it were a pain in the neck. And I feel like with a digital read out, I'm stuck in that time. While I no longer have a wind up watch, I have one with a dial, like the old timey ones. I started with a Timex when I was eight. I again have a Timex.

I won't buy an analog watch, the digital is much easier to read. I don't bother with all the fancy tricks, I just want the time. I see a lot of folks who don't wear watches look at their phone for the time, I can't be bothered with a phone.

I wear a wrist watch all the time when I go out , not at home as have many clocks.. but mine is an old fashioned one which I wind up .
much more accurate and doesnt need batteries I have one to use with a battery but it doesnt last long to have reverted back to my wind up one
and it still looks fashionable .. so it will do me .. :)

I was given an Apple Watch last year, and it was useful while I was working full-time even though I was never really a watch wearer. Now that I'm semi-retired and work from home, I don't use it as much. The functionality that I find useful these days is tracking my walking steps and stand reminders every hour when I can be bothered to keep it charged. Like others have said, I don't care as much about what time it is, and that's the best freedom of all.

My watch is controlled by the Colorado atomic master clock. It keeps PERFECT time (To the exact second).

No batteries, don't wind it; automatically changes to & from DLS.

AND, The best thing of all, it TALKS to me. When I press a button, a man's voice says the exact time.

Sometimes when its too dark to see the analog dial, I press the button and it CLEARLY announces the exact time.

I wear it everyday.

I find digital to harder to read. My analog is a large one. The digital numbers don't set well with my eyes. I don't have a cell phone either. I don't want to be bothered all the time. It's like being on call - at their convenience not mine.

I've not worn a watch the last few years, in part because I tend to have my iPhone with me when I go out and it tells me the time. When I was in the office, I always had the iPhone because I'd get my work-related emails, so no need for a watch. Now they're just in my top drawer. Maybe I'll give one to my grandson when he's older.
