Writing Changes

I had an Aunt who was proof reader and I thought about it for a while as I was reading so many books I figured I should have been getting paid for it. Why is it that a misprint or typo springs off the page of a book yet it's damned near impossible to pick one in my own posts until after I've posted the damned thing?

Tell me about it, sometimes I see an older post of mine, not just here, but anyplace and wonder what the heck I was doing at the time !?!

Wowser, now this is extremely hard to read.

Boo's Mom, we probably scared Paul away! :uncomfortableness:

Having been made a photojournalist for Armed Forces News Service, got stuck proof reading stuff too often. Because I was mouthing off about the war (and other reasons to be sure) they gave me battle reports to work on when I wasn't in the field shooting guns and photos . . . Started having fun with it: I enjoyed changing, "The general said it . . . " TO "The general said shit . . ." Good times until I got caught.

These days, you may have noticed there seems to be no proof reading at all. Which is proof of the dumbing down of America . . . and the world in general. DUH.

Whoever is in charge of The Dumbing Down of America is really doing a fantastic job of it.

You really hit the nail on the head OH...America is becoming so dumbed down whoever is in charge is working themselves out of a job.

TG..That is one of my big pet peeves when reading a news article...I remember when you rarely found a spelling or grammar error in the newspaper. Now it's common to find not one, but several errors in practically any news article. This doesn't instill confidence in my that the facts they are reporting are accurate, either.

ETA: Oh good grief, too many writing and language threads..part of this should have been posted in the other one..moving it.
