OMG What a Surprise/Shock I had Tonight!

Honestly we never found out. This house was built around the turn of the century. Besides generations of mice there are cracks and crawlspaces everywhere imaginable. Oh do you remember me writing about Sophie going crazy at the garage door for a few months? One night hubby was grilling on the back porch. He looked up in time to see the raccoon zipping under the eaves.

We have no more animal control services in our town and whatever creatures we trap will be replaced by a new tenant anyway. As long as they keep to themselves, stay out of the house, and away from the dogs we'll leave them be.

Scary. Yes, I remember about the raccoon. lol. I have a garage space for my car and if I saw something down there I think I'd run out of there! I never expected to have a bat in my apt. in a million years! lol.

You handled that so well, Ruthanne. I am impressed.

I would have been too scared to try to do anything with the bath. Years ago a friend of mine told me about a bat she had in her 2nd floor apartment. She was freaked and called the local police (small town/40 years ago). The policeman that showed up was nearly as afraid as she was and used a broom to take care of the bat. I won't go into details. Just me say my friend was pretty traumatized that night.

Thank you. I guess I did try to stay calm even though inside I was scared bad. I was very concerned about my pets and getting the bat out of the living room away from them and luckily it finally went in the kitchen where I could close the door. Whew! People have told me bats could have rabies but I wasn't aware of that then. I don't think this bat had rabies, though. It didn't try to attack me or any of my pets.
