Just reported someone to child protective services and the police

My ex husband has a daughter by a woman he was married to before me. She's a real Lulu that lives in another state. She has 6 kids that are having an awful life. Before he realized what a con artist she was he was trying to help her giving her cars and money , etc. He has given her thousands. She had a million lies she told her dad. Finally he realized what she is and cut her off. Recently she has begun to dangle his grandchildren like bait for money. She's on drugs and leaves her kids with crack heads baby sitting them. Her sister whom I called said the little girl told her she was sitting between two men that were shooting up drugs in their arms in the car. Well, the ex has blocked her number. She called ME tonight and I recorded the conversation. I asked her about the kids being abused by being left with unsafe adults and the drugs, etc. She began shrieking at me on the phone & I was recording it. She is threatening to come here and kick my ass for not relaying messages to her father for her. So when I hung up with her I called the sheriff's department in her town and they did call me back. I told the officer ( who knows her well) that I'm not afraid of her coming here. This is Texas after all ;) , but I told him I what I wanted was someone to investigate how those children of hers are being cared for and then I told him all I know. He assured me that he is turning it over to child protective services. I told him everything. He agreed with me that something has to be done for the kids. I try not to hate, but I hate people who do things like that to their kids.

That's awfully sad. If those things are found to be true, she will probably lose her kids and they will probably be split up. Hope she straightens up for her children's sake. They deserve a chance in life. It's not always easy to remove children from a home in some states, I hope they follow through with an investigation.

Carla she was doing the con jobs before she ever started the drugs. She told us she had stage 2 cancer of the uterus once then had another baby 8 months later. She has beaten the children for telling their grandfather and other people things they are not supposed to tell. Those kids get beaten. Her sister told me tonight that one of the men that was living in the house with the children is a registered sex offender for assault on a child. Even if they get split up it's better than the dangerous environment she has put those kids in. When I asked her sister why she has not reported this she said " She's family." She is not fit to have any children and I hope they get rescued. The officer knows her and he assured me he would make sure there is an investigation into it.

Then again it depends on the state. A friend of a friend had the same foster kids a bunch of times. Mom then Dad went away for drugs. This was Florida...after maybe the fifth or sixth time...in ten years...the foster parents finally got permanent custody.

"She's family" is even more a reason--those children are family too. It doesn't appear she has much feeling knowing those kids are in that type of danger. Can you encourage the sister to get involved, maybe annonomously? She may be able to do that.

BW - You did the hard thing but it was the right thing. God bless you for caring enough to get involved. Just don't overlook your own safety.

I don't really know what's going to be done after this, I'll try and keep checking :( Their grandfather would have taken them all, but she only wants to use them like bait for drug money & he isn't handing her more money.

Her sister is afraid of her. Evidently after people finally got her evicted out of their rental she burned it down. I don't know if that is true or not. She's a nut.

Thank you Hoot. I'll be okay. I live in a TEENY Texas town. ( well really out in the country close to a teeny town ) The police out here are bored. She shows up out here threatening me & she's toast .

Then there were two children I tried to get for an informal foster care situation. Their mother had a piddling month in jail for public brawling. The boy was maybe three and the girl ten months. The girl and I had bonded, I was her preschool teacher. But in Pennsylvania the law says next of kin gets custody.

The grandmother didn't want them. She lived in Long Island, NY. It made tri-state news. She beat the brother to death for soiling himself. My poor Naiemah, she would be about ten now. If I could have had both of them just for a month or two. But the law is the law, no matter how %$&*ed up it is.:(

Did the right thing. I wouldn't blame all of her behavior on drug abuse either. Hopefully the kids won't get screwed in custody battles, foster care etc.
