Book: Far & Away: How travel can change the world

Just heard this author on CNN and it sounds like a very interesting book.

He talked about the us vs them mentality and labeling, and also how Trump has made some people feel they are more deserving than people who are different from them. He also talked about how travel can make people more empathetic and open minded. We generally stop stereotyping people once we get to know them.

I find this very true myself having been in 3 countries in Africa and living in one for two years. Also have enjoyed learning about Thai culture when we spend winters there.

You are indeed lucky to travel so often and to have had so many international experiences. This sounds like a great book and I'm going to put it on my list. I scanned his background on his website, and my word, it's quite substantial.

I'm a big fan of listening to author interviews to hear about the story behind the story, especially when Fresh Air or other NPR stations air them.

Does this sound like a book you'll put on your Kindle to travel with?

I just bought and downloaded it. It might be a bit more in depth than I want to read, but I'll stick with it.

I feel very fortunate to have been able to travel so much and live in 3 countries. Sure does open your mind!
