A good show for you junkies of the Royals is "The Crown."

It follows the life of the present Queen Elizabeth and all of her relatives and great government figures, such as Winston Churchill and Anthony Eden. Not to mention the big foreign pain to all, Mrs. Wallace. It is now on Netflix...

No, some liberties are being taken. Also, I wonder what the Royals think of it...

We've been talking about this show in the Entertainment section. It's entertaining but I'm sure the liberties they took in the story were pretty big.

Sounds pretty good.

If it ever comes to PBS, I'll check it out.

A new series in the same vein entitled Victoria airs nationally on PBS in mid January of '17.

If you're a fan of that type of thing and if you ever get the chance... and haven't already seen it... check out the ORIGINAL 1990's BBC version of House of Cards, as well as the other two series, To Play The King and The Final Cut, which combined, make up the House of Cards Trilogy.

I have never seen the more recent Americanized version of it, but I'd bet money that the older Brit version is far superior.

In the Brit version, the Frank Underwood character is British Parliament Chief Whip turned Prime Minister, Francis Urquhart.

Pure evil.

Always enjoys "Putting some stick about"....

Victor, I prefer the original UK House of Cards too, although I'd have to say the acting in the US version and casting of Kevin Spacey serves the plot well.

Has anyone seen The Queen, with Helen Mirren? It follows the events after Diana's death. Of course, I will watch almost anything with Ms. Mirren in it. Really like her. But the movie WAS good.

We've watched the first 2 episodes of The Crown and really like it, Ralphy. Maybe over the long holiday weekend we'll watch a few more.

Marie, I loved The Queen. Helen Mirren did an amazing job in that movie. She had the Queen down perfectly. But then she always does a great job and I too, will watch anything with her in it.

Watching the CROWN made me think of the comments my mother made when I was a young kid. She like many American women were so impressed with the King giving up the throne to MARRY THE WOMAN HE LOVED.

She did some "interesting work" in Caligula....

I read differently, that Edward was asked to abdicate because he was an open nazi sympathizer, the stepping down for the woman he loved story was just what was fed to the public. Of course, he left and married Wallis, but they were both big Hitler fans.

"the King giving up the throne to MARRY THE WOMAN HE LOVED."

And ringing the monarchy, and the country, to its knees.

He not only gave up the throne, but made friends with Hitler and fully expected to rule again after a German victory.

There's a certain thing called "noblesse oblige" which Margaret had in full measure, and he didn't.

The Queen became and still is a class act. Also, Lithgow did a great job as Churchill...
