Trompe l'oeil art

I've always been a big fan of Trompe l'oeil or paintings that are very realistic and "fool the eye". Here are some examples that I think are really cool:

Only one person in this painting on the side of a building is real.

Is your home feeling a little claustrophobic?

I painted something sort of silmilar to this on a wall in the bird room in our last house. It wasn't nearly as professional looking (I'm not an artist by any means.) but it still turned out surprisingly well. You might be surprised how easy it is since, with acrylic wall paints you can paint over any mistakes and try again once it dries.

I love the art form. I have seen the sidewalks before, but the others I have not. Very nice!

Up until 2002 when sadly, it was torn down, if you drove north on Collins Avenue in Miami Beach, you could feast your eyes on this six story trompe l'oeil mural on the side of the Sorrento building, depicting an arch with the Fontainebleau Hilton just beyond...

Condos there now.

I wonder if any of these artists do "body art"? I could use a little trompe d'oeil that would make me look 30 pounds lighter. Of course, I could just "trompe d'refrigerator" so that I couldn't find it....

Trompe d'oeil body art to look thinner - I love it!
