Come on Ralphy you can be honest here:playful: I know some people welcome their mature years with a natural face, but personally I still find it fun to play with cosmetics. Nothing elaborate but I can make my eyes pop. Liner and shadows and mascara oh my...I just found a new mascara recently. Maybelline Lash Sensational-Full Fan Effect, it comes in a purple pink tube. It takes a bit of practice but once you figure it out va va voom!!!

True results...

In general, and in moderation, yes. I don't like to see it as a mask which looks as though it may crack, but being a totally unreconstructed heterosexual I see nothing wrong with someone drawing attention to their best bits, from rosebud lips to a peaches complexion.

Yeah, I know, sexist pig and all that!

Well, much to the dismay of my mom, and my rather girly sister in law, I never got into wearing any sort of make up. Ever. I sued to wear a bit of blush, and mascara, but now nothing at all. I mean, I do spritz on something pretty smelling now and then, but nothing else. And I am sure my mom is rolling in her grave because I am letting my hair go grey with no coloring.

I think the last time I had make up on was in the early 70's. When I was in high school back in the early 60's I played around with it a little bit. Even then I wasn't a big fan. I did like nail polish though. I'd put a couple of thick coats of the stuff on and then out of complete boredom I'd peel it off the next day in class. I remember a few girls growing their nails really long, then they would cut them off and send them to some pharmaceutical company so they could test out new products. They got a few dollars for each nail they sent in. Heaven forbid they broke one during gym class, they went crazy.

I've been told by many that I have this natural beauty that makeup only distracts from.

But then I've also been told by many more that it makes no difference how much lipstick you put on a pig, it's still just a pig.......who to believe ? :)

Most days I go bare faced. On occasion if I go out to lunch or dinner with someone be it female or male I will put on the eye shadow and mascara and some brow enhanser along with a little lipstick and some perfume, too.

Perfume every day:love_heart: I just like the way it makes me feel. I use BB balm. Much lighter than foundation and smooths pores nicely. My lashes and eyebrows are blonde enough to be transparent...bare faced they look a bit like a rabbit.

I used to wear makeup when I worked, also polished and manicured nails. Now it's only minimal unless I am going somewhere special. No longer polish nails and file them shorter.

I enjoy it on women if it is tastefully done. I think mascara and lipstick make the face.

Some (Repeat; SOME) women who think they don't need it, REALLY need it.

I read your post Falcon and got worried. Maybe I was one of those who need it. I asked the hubby, he said I was wrinkle free and didn't need it. I'm not sure I trust him though. He asked me today to make his favorite Christmas cookies and I think he was covering his butt. I may just dig out my high school makeup for the holiday season.lol

I haven't even used lipstick in many many years. I hate seeing old women with lipstick running up into their wrinkles. I never used eye makeup because I am legally blind in one eye and couldn't see well enough to make up both eyes.

I always used eye makeup since I was a teenager, never skin or foundation makeup or lipstick. I started out using black pencil liner under my bottom lashes, and black cake liner, the kind you moisten the little brush and rub into the matte powder, then apply above my top lashes. Also black mascara, usually Maybelline, the one in the pink container. Shadows were always muted shades of browns or natural greens.

As I got older, I started using less. Now, I try to use more natural eye makeup, I bought some shadow and mascara at the health store. On normal days, I just put a little pencil liner under my bottom lashes and a light layer of shadow. If I'm going out dressed up somewhere, I'll use the mascara. Some days I'll go makeup free, and always when out in the woods camping.

The only time my wife didn't wear make up (and she truly didn't need it) was if she was making me a coffee while I dressed if I got called out in the middle of the night.

Under all normal circumstances it was out of bed, into loo, wash hands and face, apply slap!

Until two days before she died she would ask the nursing home staff to help her with a bit of lipstick, mascara and eye shadow.

However, although I was her full time, and only, carer for some years, including when she became doubly incontinent, the one thing she would never allow me to do was her make up. In fact, I'd have much rather done that than put in her pieced ear rings! That used to make me shudder!

See if I have to go to the Quickie Mart or ER late night I'm not going to give a rat's fart about my hair or make-up. I feel bad for women who do...guys as well but that's another story. But during the day or evening and I'm fully awake. Always fragrance and then making the Bette Boop eyes. Careful there as we get older we don't see so good.

A q-tip with a sweep of remover can wipe off mascara and shadow overload. But really whatever makes you presentable to you...
