I have a weird memory . I can't tell you what I ate for supper 2 days ago , but I can probably name some kids I went to grade school with. Why is that ? I hope I'm never a witness to a crime .... I'd be the most unreliable witness there is. This drives me nuts .... I have a word I'm trying to say --- it's at the tip of my tongue and I can't remember it (until hours later usually.) Don't tell me your name , I'll forget it as soon as you walk away. In my world ,everybody should wear name tags ....LOL My hubby makes me feel better when he says "even a hard drive can hold only so much information" Bless his heart ! :p

Your memory gets crowded over the years. I have the most trouble remembering peoples names.

I still remember that cute little girl that was in my 6th grade class. She moved during summer vacation, I wonder where she went.

i can remember phone numbers but cant remember peoples names--some times i cant remember a word i want to use till a few minutes later

My doctor once said about my memory, "If you forget where you parked the car, don't worry. It's normal. If you forget you have a car, come talk to me again. It's time to worry."

I have a pretty good memory but am terrible with numbers. Can't even remember my Social Security card number. I also reverse numbers when transferring them from one place to another. Sometimes my memory is to good. I can remember all the embarrassing situations I got myself into from years ago. I was just thinking of the first time I had my in laws for dinner. I had baked a cake and was cutting it. I served myself first,a big no no, and made such huge slices there wasn't enough left for my Father in law. My Mother in law shared hers with him. I could have died. Such silly things but can't get them out of my head.

I can't remember anything that has to do with numbers....phone numbers, addresses, etc. Thank goodness for stored numbers in cellphones.

Faces I'm fantastic with, names are a total loss.

Names of streets? Nah. Trying to give directions to someone: Well, what's the name of the street where I turn? I don't know but there's the cutest little café on the NE corner and there's a great place to get a manicure on the SE corner and there's a used book store on the NW corner and....

Now, what were we talking about?

I only remember the names of people that have been very nice to me or very mean to me.

I have trouble remembering things when I need to remember them but eventually the information pops into my head after the need for it has passed.

"Always remember two things I love you and the name of the bank."- Johnny Brown to his wife Molly in the Unsinkable Molly Brown

When I started getting older I worried about getting Alzheimer or dementia when my memory started to slide.
I don't worry about it any more.
My memory isn't great but I feel it's in the normal range for my age.

I had 2 cousins, both sisters, that had serious issues and I can see the difference between normal memory loss and what they went through.

Signs of a failing memory according to George Burns

"First you forget names.
Then you forget faces.
Then you forget to pull up your zipper.
Finally you forget to pull down your zipper."

A couple in their nineties are both having problems remembering things. During a check-up, the doctor tells them that they're physically okay, but they might want to start writing things down to help them remember .. Later that night, while watching TV, the old man gets up from his chair. 'Want anything while I'm in the kitchen?' he asks.

'Will you get me a bowl of ice cream?'

'Sure.'

'Don't you think you should write it down so you can remember it?' she asks.

'No, I can remember it.'

'Well, I'd like some strawberries on top, too. Maybe you should write it down, so as not to
forget it?'

He says, 'I can remember that. You want a bowl of ice cream with strawberries.'

'I'd also like whipped cream. I'm certain you'll forget that, write it down?' she
asks.

Irritated, he says, 'I don't need to write it down, I can remember it! Ice cream with
strawberries and whipped cream - I got it, for goodness sake!'

Then he toddles into the kitchen. After about 20 minutes, the old man returns from the
kitchen and hands his wife a plate of bacon and eggs. She stares at the
plate for a moment. 'Where's my toast?'

I think as we get older our short term memory gets less.. which explains why we cannot remember what we ate yesterday, but are able to remember things that happened 40 years ago.. I think that's normal

Seriously; I have a deadly fear of forgetting how to recite the alphabet, times tables, the months of the year
my phone number, the formula for making hummingbird food + a myriad of other taken-for-granted simple tasks.

That alphabet thing could be costly if the cops think your driving drunk....:praying:

Actually TMS I don't think that's weird at all. My memory seems to be working the same way. Same thing with the names and the right word being on the tip of my tongue. The latter is happening more often now. My brain is quite active so I'm not yet worried about dementia setting in but I am noticing a difference in my memory than say 1 year ago. I'm 70. I don't know how old you are but you probably have more stored in your brain than a hard drive. I certainly believe I do. LOL

Names of people that I don't see often, or think about. Sometimes the name of certain things escapes me. If I work at it, the name usually pops in after a little bit.
