Today is Amazon Prime Day

Today is Amazon Prime Day....or as some call it, Christmas in July. Since it is miserably hot outdoors, and I'm a bit bored today, I spent some time browsing the "Tremendous Bargains" available at Amazon. I could not find One item that I thought was worth buying....or that I might find a need for. I'm always amazed at how Amazon has managed to build up such a huge customer base. I do quite a bit of online shopping/buying, and I usually check Amazon before I make a purchase....but I can't think of more than 1 or 2 items I've bought online in the past couple of years where Amazon had the best price/deal. But then, most of the stuff I buy online is related to vehicle/appliance/household maintenance and upkeep...which doesn't seem to be much of a priority at Amazon. I suppose becoming a Prime member for $99 might have some advantage, but not for me.

I looked, but not a lot of what we could use was on special. Though we did decide to buy an Amazon Fire tablet. My husband had bee wanting to replace his old one. It was #29.95, originally $49.95.

I'd never pay to be a prime member. Most things I buy have free shipping, so that's good enough for me.

I am a prime member after not wanting to be for years. I buy a lot of things at Amazon and the "free shipping" helps. I can't find free shipping elsewhere unless I spend a lot. To be a Prime member I think it is 11.79 a month or so.

I found 3 things I wanted on Prime Day.

I didn't find anything I needed. I won't pay for prime as I always get free shipping anyway by waiting the extra few days for it. Don't know of anything I can't wait a few days for.

Where do you get free shipping for waiting a few extra days? I've never seen that on Amazon.

I'm a Prime member, but saw nothing of interest on Prime Day.
I'm waiting for Amazon Fresh (another Prime service) to get going in my area... that is something I will look into as soon as it starts.

iv never really found anything to buy, im under the impression that prime day is just to get people to buy old line stock quickly so the xmas lines can be relesed etc

I am a prime member only because they offered the monthly membership, (pay month to month instead of by year), so if after a while I don't find it worthwhile, I can cancel. So far it's been very useful; for one, I can at anytime buy prime items no matter the price and have them mailed no shipping charge applied. Normally, to get free shipping you'll have to spend a certain amount each time. Now if I just want one item even if it's $2, it will ship free. I've probably order a lot more since having the membership as I don't always need what amounts to the required free shipping requirement at one time. Now I can shop for what I need at my convenience.

I've had some issues here and there with the 2 day shipping, (not often), but, they made sure to offer compensation whenever that happened. I ordered a mattress which took a little more time to come than I hoped for, really it did state, at first that it would take longer than two days, but, they did give a would be here date by and since that time passed, I phoned and made my case and was compensated. I did receive the item a couple of days later. Speaking of which, I don't know how I lived without a memory foam mattress in my life eva. WOW!

I recently bought two separate items for my dog, from two different companies. Under buy New, I always check other sellers and many times it's a lower price with free shipping. I think terry123 might have meant that when it's free you won't get 2 day or fast shipping.....but I have to say, both items arrived well before the date they said, and that has been the case a lot of times. Guess it depends on what you're buying, if there's other New ones listed by other retailers.

Thanks for the feedback SB!:eek:nthego:

Most everything I buy qualifies for free shipping. When it shows your shipping options it will show your choices depending on how long you want to wait for it. I always choose the free shipping but it usually is within 6-7 days. There is nothing I need that I have to have within 2-3 days. If it is I will go to Walmart or somewhere else for it. I just received 3 c d's from Amazon that were shipped free as they were in stock and I could wait 5 days for them.

Wow, I have never seen anything with free shipping like that at Amazon when I did not have Prime.
