Positive Self Talk

Ya know, there isn't a day go by that I don't tell myself "Lon, You are one really on the ball 83 year old compared to many of your peers and much younger folk. You don't look or act like a 83 year old. You are reliant and self sufficient.
 

Good for you Lon. I have to give myself a boost once in a while because no one else will do it for you except perhaps young children.

I was bowling by myself one day and a young boy came up to me and said. "Mister, you are good".

And then there are days when I say to myself. How can you keep making the same mistakes and expecting different results.
 
Way to go Lon. You certainly don't look your age and from reading your posts its easy to tell your on the ball!!

Exactly. As they say, "it's a sad puppy that won't wag it's own tail".
 
I agree but this is not easy for me sometimes, despite my accomplishments.

Have any of you had major operations (heart, cancer, etc) and prepped yourself
with positive self talk? I usually worry, get depressed instead.
How do you keep yourself up when facing disease?
 
I am a big believer in positive self talk. I absolutely know that I know it is helpful. The other day I read one I liked..it said...

"I may not be perfect, but I am good enough" Striving for perfection is one of my weaknesses so it resonated with me :)

I have had major surgeries...but I do not remember being too worried...my family was certainly freaking out. I remember hoping to have an out of body experience since I had been reading all about them but was disappointed that I did not. When I spoke to my surgeons about them they were not happy talking about OBES lol
Has anyone here had an OBE or NDE??
