prices on menus

Do you think restaurants should put the prices of the items on the menu? Around here, I've noticed a trend to just list the meals (and what is included), but not the prices, especially in the more upscale places. I find it disconcerting. I don't know if I'm ordering something that is going to be $10 or $50. Recently I ate out and had just an appetizer of chicken tenders with Thai peanut dipping sauce and a paper-thin slice of cheesecake. The bill was over $15, the cheesecake (which wasn't phenomenal, was a substantial part of the bill.

IMO a menu without prices is a silly affectation.

I think that the prices should be clearly posted on the menu and if they are not the server should be able to explain them.

It's not that I'm cheap but if you expect me to enter into a contract with you to provide me with a meal then I expect you to disclose the terms up front.

Like having work done on your house and the contractor won't tell you how much it's going to cost.

Not everything in life can be as easy to price as a plate of chicken fingers and a piece of cheesecake.

A contractor or mechanic has no real way to know what he will find until he tears into a job.

Agree.
