Glazed ham from the can

Those canned hams are just the ticket for a small meal .

Not hard to do either.

I stud the ham with cloves. Then it's basted with a brown sugar glaze and baked.

I love that stuff. Just trying to figure out a side dish for it.

Normally I make it as ham and eggs. But today I have some green beans and a friend gave me some small potatoes.

Camper that looks really good. I use to buy them all the time and kind of forgot about them. This has renewed my interest. Now that it's just the two of us it will be the perfect size.

Interesting about pineapple slices.
Raw pineapple is a meat tenderizer. Used quite a bit in Chinese cooking.
But not the canned variety because it is pasteurized.
I actually saw that demonstrated on a science program.
It does give a nice taste.

I had forgotten about those too. Years ago we bought them a lot. Being just me I don't bother with hams. Will buy a ham steak sometimes when I have a taste for it.

Same here.

We used to buy little canned hams, canned bacon, etc... when we went camping or for the emergency shelf. These days I buy a bone in vacuum packed ham steak. I try to keep a chunk in the freezer so I can chop off a few small pieces to use in beans, greens, soups, etc...

I buy a great big old ham steak. We make a meal around half of it and then I chop up the rest and parcel it into small packets. When I make an omelet, I'll grab a small packet of ham chunklets and throw them into the mix. Just enough for a taste in the omelet.

Another great thing to do with ham chunks is to put ham, green peppers, onions and pineapple chunks into dressed-up baked beans and bake them. I call it "Hawaiian Baked Beans" and it's a big hit at pot-lucks.

Thanks for the interest, tips, comments, etc.

It makes it more fun.

Here's the finished product. I used cooked potatoes rolled in potato chips and the ham and the egg sunny side up.

Just need some nice toast and coffee.
