This is about foundation. I've been wearing Estee Lauder forever and was wondering if there is anything out there that is better than/comprable. Is there a department store that has a make up department that has their staff knowledgeable on all the foundation and can advise?
 

Hi Debbie, I wore Estee Lauder foundation for years, the texture and shade were absolutely perfect for me but, unfortunately due to a skin problem (not caused by the foundation) I had to stop, the only foundation I’m able to use at the moment is a brand called No.7, ‘Stay Perfect’ the whole No.7 range is Hypo Allergenic

Incidently do you think it would be a good idea to start a thread for us girls on Beauty, purely to discuss make up, hair, skin care etc ?

Debbie, the make up counters in the department stores are dedicated to each brand, so if you go to say, the Clinique counter, that's what they'll recommend.

I'm thinking if you go to Ulta or Sephora, their staff might be knowledgeable in more than one name brand.

You know, I've found that these mineral powders brushed on, cover pretty well. Not the old fashioned face powder.
 
I've never been a huge fan of foundation, but I do wear a little Blur by L'Oreal in certain places. It's super light coverage but it does cover. Do you need heavy coverage? Is there an Ulta near you?

Sephora and Ulta hire young gals who don’t know their nose from the different kinds of foundations (at least that’s been my experience)

Debbie why don't you watch some youtube videos on the subject? There are tons of good ones. Even if you went to a spa, they would push their own preferred products on you. That's pretty much the way it is now.
 
Shall we stick to this thread then ? Already set up for Girls only and discussing make up so, who wears make up, and do you wear it every day ?

I’ve worn it since my early teens and been through every shade and style imaginable however, at my age I think ‘less is more’ and just stick to foundation, mascara, lip gloss, a little blush and, as my eyebrows are very sparse, I pencil them in and soften with a baby bud for a more natural effect
 
That's discrimination and against the First Amendment or something like it isn't it. Don't get your panties in a knot. I'm kidding.

I was expecting that ! personally I wouldn’t mind any men with an interest in make up contributing to the thread...:D

debbie, I was in the dollar store a few months ago and picked up a product labeled B.B. BB face.jpg

I hadn't been happy with the foundation I was using, so for a buck I thought what have I got to lose. What a pleasant surprise with this product, so I went back and bought a few more. It is a medium weight foundation that doesn't streak or cake up, and smooths out the fine lines and large pores on my face. I hope it continues to be available.
 
I wish I could also find a good foundation I like. There are also some men who use beauty products ya know. I know some of them. They use more than me in fact. I have seen a spray on type they advertize on tv for about 20.00 and it covers all kinds of things on the face. These commercials have not been on recently, though, but look for them on tv.

interesting. What is the difference between B.B. and CC creams?

That would be MY cream, lol.

I actually don't use any foundation or powder, I can't even stand the tinted moisturizers. Ive tried them all at one time or another. My face feels dirty if I wear any.
I do use a concealer stick sometimes for under my eye area and that's it except for moisturizer. My favorite is by Clinique.
 
OK girls-I googled the differences between BB and CC creams with a DD thrown in for interest.
CC cream is color correcting and helps with redness and sallowness. BB Cream is like a lighter foundation with a few skin care benefits thrown in. DD cream (aka Daily Defense Cream) is not for the face, but is a heavy duty foot and body cream. Tinted moisturizer is just as it says, a moisturizer with a tint.
Using the BB or CC's, you still need a moisturizer .
 
I didn’t know the difference either, thanks debbie I may try a CC cream, I always use moisturiser before applying my make up then, after blending foundation, I gently pat a little extra as a concealer
