How much time each day do you spend on online?

Since I've been on Senior Forums, I've spent too much time online. It's just too fascinating here. I really need to spend more time doing off line stuff. But once started there's so much to read!! (Yes, I'm old-fashioned and sitting in front of a computer).

I have to sit in front of something, might as well be the computer!

About 2-3 hours scattered over 24 hours.

More than I should! I leave my laptop on all day so I pop in and out on websites and forums that I enjoy when I sit down for a minute. I also do a lot of online shopping, check the news outlets, stock market, weather, etc. Conversely, I don't watch much TV any more. :D

My problem is that I start out looking something up. Upon getting to a site, something else interesting is mentioned and I have to get more info on THAT......which leads to another fascinating factoid that just begs to be investigated. Wash, rinse and repeat. And when I'm finished......... three hours later....... I realize that I never got the information on the original matter I was seeking.

I almost like you but no stocks and my TV is always on.

Maybe three hours on some days? I have a lot to do in my real life, so there isn't as much time as I'd like to spend online.

Probably around 3 hours out of 24... I have my computer turned on all day if I'm home, so I sit down in front of it whenever I've got nothing else to be doing ( and sometimes when I should be doing other things)..lol... It's all a bit new to me to have the chance to spend so much time on the computer for fun and relaxation having just recently taken early retirement.. so I enjoy the freedom of just being able to sit down whenever I feel like it and relax and meet up with friends and play games on the forums, as well as spending time downloading my photos.. instead of spending just a quick half an hour each evening after work posting in between making dinner, washing up and showering ready for bed for a 5.30am wake up call...

It depends, some days when I don't have much going on I'll be on the computer longer, at least a couple of hours total....but I only have one desktop that I share with my husband, so even if I want to watch something on TV, it's not in the den with the computer. I can see where folks with laptops and other devices spend much more time online.

A little time in the morning and a little time in the evening, if there's nothing interesting on TCM.

I'm otherwise too busy designing and building another model railroad layout! Old Retired Engineers need a creative outlet!

But it's funny...people say they're on their computers, but they don't use 'em to compute anything!

It's only for information gathering, visiting, and entertainment. What would you call a device that furnishes those things?

Certainly not a Computer!

Good thought. I guess it might be because computers started as those huge things that counted data from data cards. And I guess someone had to punch those things in first and then run them in the computer to compute whatever they wanted to compute. I guess it was Xerox first? Or was it IBM? My first computer was an IBM and it really lasted and it was Windows 95. I was thrilled to have it. After that, every computer I had died in a couple of years. For some reason I seem to be really hard on computers.

Maybe it would be more accurate to call them PC's except for the Apple computers.

I'm like most others. On PC, of-and-on, several hours a day (sometimes more during the winter, less in better weather). I sign into this website a number of times in a day, listen to music, look at some news outlets, check finances, some game playing, and in winter, a lot of travel planning and booking trips for the upcoming year.
I'm 'old fashioned' too --- have a desktop at home with a large monitor and a nice speaker system. I don't watch tv on it, just look at some videos.

I do that exact thing, too. Started off the other day looking at news and got off on a tangent and wound up looking at a bunch of pictures of the wreck of the Titanic and some obscure website about the post-sinking hearings and the recovery of the bodies and what happened to some car that was on board. Weird.

To much time. Been on computers since they were available for the home. Old Dos computers. I've always liked to do my own things, so that required hacking them. Then the smart phone. Got that and had to hack it also. I don't do enough face to face anymore, at my age where do I go? I looked up senior citizens centers in my area. Knitting, and computer classes. I don't knit, and I really don't need a computer class on how to use the internet. They didn't have much else. Was hoping cards, domino's, etc. But didn't see that, so here I am. On SF, I don't know anyone here but it sure beats reading the news.

You know, I was one of those that started on computers (at work) when it was run by DOS. When Windows came along, I was very defiant about it. What's wrong with DOS, I asked. I liked it, I knew it. And then, of course, I had to use it. And when I went to work where they used Apple computers, it served me well because Microsoft Windows was more or less a copy of the Apple operating system.

Maybe you might try learning chess. There are online chess websites where people compete at differing levels. You'll learn something and get involved with a chess community, off and online.

Too much! I get "trapped" by online activities and don't get nearly enough chores done because of it. LOL ;) I'm in four different networking sites, three of which always provide interesting links to follow, read and videos to check out (of various subjects). Plus I do most of my reading/research on the computer.

I'm on my computer twice/day.In mornings ck my emails, see what's happening here,go to a couple game sites play some games,.Its the same routine in afternoon unless The total hrs I'm on computer most days is between 4-5 unless I'm looking online for something, could take longer Sue
