Anyone stream Hulu live tv?

Our cable bill, Spectrum, is now over $200.00 a month. Way to much for just a few channels that we watch. Have been researching Hulu live and for $39 they have all the channels we watch. We will still need Spectrum for our WiFi, in order to receive Hulu and use our iPads and laptops. We are also getting rid of our landlines and going with Cellulat One, unlimited minutes.

I would appreciare any and all feedback from anyone that uses or has used this service.

We do have Netflix and Amazon prime also.

I did try Hulu Live as a two week free trial a couple of months ago. I thought it was fine but I still like the Playstation Vue service better (You don't need a Playstation console to use it). The plus Hulu Live had over Playstation Vue was that it had a few more channels offered but I found the interface a little clunky. Hulu Live usually offers a free two week trial so you might want to do that and see how you like it Pappy. In fact, the 4 main services (Sling, Playstation Vue, Hulu Live, and Youtube Live) do offer some type of free trials so you might want to try them all and see which one you prefer. Just don't forget to cancel after your trial is over.

Hi Pappy. We just have the regular Hulu for $11.99 a month. We get our network shows the following day. We use antenna service for our local channels. It is digital, so we get many extra channels as well. Never tried the live version, but seems expensive as the antenna serves us well.

Dave,
If you are only concerned about getting local channels and not the cable ones then Marie's method is the way to go ! The Mohu Leaf brand OTA antennas are considered one of the top lines but can be a little pricey over others. But from what I have been told the extra cost is worth it. You can also purchase DVR's for OTA antenna's.

My Spectrum bill just went up $30, I miss Brighthouse and their promotional deals and great customer service. Spectrum won't budge, they will tell you you are getting deal of course, yeah, right. Is that why they give me an ancient refurbished DVR and tell me there are no promotional deals right now. How convenient for them.

So, I am looking into other options as well.

I’m about 60 miles from Orlando where our local channels come from. Would an indoor antenna pick these up?

The answer is, "it depends." :D I'd recommend just buying an antenna and try it. If you live near a Best Buy, Walmart, etc. you should find a selection of antennas. You will need to be able to change the input on your TV menu so that you can scan for channels and see what you can pick up.

We have Comcast Xfinity cable (ugh) but only pay for 2 boxes, so I bought a cheap antenna from Amazon and hooked up to a TV in a spare room. It works GREAT for an amazing number of free channels, plus I have a Roku so I can stream Netflix and other stuff in there, too. It is kind of a pain to go to the TV menu to select the different input but I suppose that depends on the brand of your TV.

Take a walk on the wild side and cut that cable also !

I would love to cut the cable, but we have bundled services from Comcast and when I try to drop any of the "bundle," they just increase the prices on the internet service so it costs almost as much as having cable TV and phone. I think that practice should be illegal.

Plus, I'd have to figure out how to get Fox News for my hubby.

I am thoroughly confused about streaming and all that.

I have cable for $30 a month. And what is nice now is that they have on demand, so you can watch a program that is recorded anytime you want to.

They also have an app on my tablet and cell phone where I can watch programs.

I rarely watch television live now. I just like picking my spots and programs.

Anyone watch LA to VEGAS lately? That's a new one. A comedy. Also Young Sheldon and Big Bang Theory.

Just download the Fox NEWS APP. You can get it for your cell phone or your tablet or your computer.

Thanks Marie. What type of antenna do you use?

We have two. Got both from Amazon, these are the links. Both work well, though we had to play a bit with where to place them for best reception. We get all the local networks, plus digital extras like MeTV, ION and some movie channels. Depending on where you live, you want to try for as much range as possible. 50 miles or so. I should add that on HULU we cannot get next day viewing of CBS shows. I think it is because they want you to use their own service.

Both of those are great prices Marie ! Good to know that they work well for you also.

And yes , CBS is trying to get folks to pay for their own service which reminds me of another reason why it might be best to avoid the Hulu Live service. If the Disney buyout of Fox goes through then Disney will have controlling interest in Hulu and since Disney is developing their own streaming service they might not see any good reason to continue Hulu. Of course this is only a long range speculation by some. The great thing about Hulu, Netflix, etc is that it is easy to cancel at anytime.
