Best gifts for seniors

Same here...a daily phone call would be great but unfortunately not practical because my daughter lives oversees, and has a very busy schedule, but yes I'd love that too.

I'll go and look at your link now...I'm always trying to find ideas for gifts for people who tend to have most of what they already want or need..

A phone call for me also. We communicate most every day on the instant messenger on Facebook but it isn't the same as hearing their voices. Time would be my second choice. My son is very good at helping us with anything that might need fixing around the house even though he is very busy running his own business. The time he sets aside for us as well as my daughter taking over this computer and getting the bugs out and making me gluten free goodies is very much appreciated.

I;ve seen most of those items lots of times, especially the jar opener...but I like the wrist band and the seniors phone.....

which reminds me I think this year I might give or suggest a gift of ''Google Home'' for a Blind friend...it's going to be so useful for him...endless possibilities, like asking what the forecast is going to do, get it to read to him, play quizzes, play brain games, ask for the times of trains and buses..get it to call a cab... .. .. as well as 'company to talk to''

I think the best gift is spending time with seniors.

If they have given up driving and they live in the area call them up and ask if they want to ride shotgun while you run errands.

One thing that I used to do for my parents was to buy them things that had moved into the luxury class as inflation eroded their buying power. After Thanksgiving I would take my mother shopping and pickup the tab for the candied fruit, nuts, baking, chips, etc... that she liked to use for her holiday baking. Other times during the year I would take them a couple of premium steaks, chops, a small roast, kielbasa, etc... from a local butcher shop.

One thing that I stopped giving them were gift certificates to go out to dinner. They always ended up in the bottom of a drawer or were given to other family members.

Good luck!
