Do You Carry The Same Wallet/Purse Every Time You Leave The House?.

It dawned on me one day "why an I carrying my wallet full of personals just to go fill my gas tank"? So now I keep two wallets and change out depending on where I am going. Why carry several credit cards/bank cards to go get a haircut? So a junkie goes after you and steals your wallet/purse, what have you lost if all your stuff is back at the house? Worse, he sticks a gun in your ribs and demands you go to an ATM to get money. Also, I never put my money in my wallet because if I lose it I have lost only what is in it. I laugh when I see people opening the wallets exposing 4-5 credit cards /bank cards for the person next to them to see like at a grocery store. Duh! "Come rob me". Give it some thought.

I'm a woman but I don't carry a purse around, I use a bi-fold wallet that fits in the back pocket of my jeans. I carry the same one everyday, driver's license, a couple of credit cards, my store cards, health insurance cards, auto insurance documents, etc. I don't carry a lot of money around on a daily basis, usually no more than $20. I don't use ATMs, so I have no pin numbers that he could force me to use. I'm in my mid 60s, and haven't have my wallet stolen from me yet, so I don't live in fear of it happening. I guess you can say I'm cautious at times, but not paranoid....try to think positively.

When I was working and gone from the house all day, I was kind of conflicted as to what was safer--to carry things like a credit cards, health insurance cards, etc, drivers's license (I didn't drive to work) social security card, etc. with me or leave them at home where a burglar might rifle through my things for identify theft purposes. But I guess that's kind of far fetched. And what about banking by internet. Aren't you vulnerable that way, too? I only use one purse and wallet all the time.

I don't carry a purse but all my pants have pockets. I only take what I need. My DL, credit card, keys and phone. If I am paying cash I will have a twenty or ten folded in my pocket. Depends where I am going. Today my printer was not working so I had some things to print so I did take a purse to the library with me with just a few items I needed. I am a target anyway since I walk with a cane and my left arm and hand are paralyzed. So, I try to go early to the grocery store or library and get back before the roads and grocery stores get crowded. I leave my credit cards at home except for one that I am going to use. I have my road side assistance card in the car in case I need help. When you are limited in certain areas you do the best you can to be safe and still be able to live by yourself.

I carry a purse all the time unless I make a quick run to a store with my hubby, he drives and pays the bill so I don't really need it.. My purse is quite large because I'm afraid if I carry a small one I'll put it down and forget it. In my purse I carry tissues, extra hearing aid batteries, sunglasses and an assortment of other junk that has come in handy now and then. I change by the season. Lighter colors in the spring and summer.

I have several handbags, all large enough, some might say luggage size and they carry all I need and stuff I don't need but might sometime need. And only another woman could make sense of that :)

I change with the season, but I do find the older I get the less I want to carry.

It bears on the shoulder so I have lots of things in my car that I might need.

I always carry the same wallet though, same cards, very little cash. I get paranoid if someone is lurking over my shoulder.

Haven't carried SS or Medicare cards in years. My Medicare Advantage card takes the place of the Medicare card and it doesn't have my SS number on it.

Same here, I keep my social security card at home in a safe along with my Medicare card, which I just recently received. My Kaiser Medicare Advantage card is the only one I keep with me.

It sounds like you might be living in a "High Crime" area, if you are worried about people seeing you open your wallet....but then, with nothing in your profile to indicate anything about you, it's hard to tell. If you do live in an environment where you have to worry about such things, perhaps you should consider moving.

Me, too, chic! I even found half a milkbone in the bottom of my purse the other day.

LoL. What about the lint covered sourball? ;) Sometimes, I find useful things, like emery boards, purse mirrors, combs, and that extra car key I though I'd lost. I have so many bags so I when I change one, I'm bound to leave something behind in the old one.

Why do you all in the USA carry your DL with you?...is it illegal to not have it with you if you're stopped by the police?

I am not sure about the USA but here in Canada you need to show your license and proof of insurance if stopped by police. I think though that they do allow you time to produce it if you don't have it at the time. Health card should be carried in case of an accident as all your info can be linked to the card numbers.

If you don't have your license with you while you're out driving, and get stopped for any reason by the police, you will be ticketed. If you walk to a store and want to pay for something with a check, they may ask for photo ID, usually your driver's license. I you want to get an annual fishing license at a sporting goods store, you need your driver's license.

When my children got their SS cards I made color photo copies and that's what they carried with them. I filed the originals. After my son moved out and was out on his own he needed the original. He called me on the phone and said "Mom I think I'm old enough to carry my SS card now"..he was 25. So I mailed it to him.

Oh, how I love purses, and have lots of them. I generally use a basic color for everyday, but change them to match my shoes/outfit for church or any dress-up occasion. Cross-body bags are a must for traveling.
