Barbara Bush

The news reports that Barbara Bush is in "failing" health and does not want any further medical treatment. What a great "First Lady" she was....my absolutely favorite.

I would have loved to have met her. She was a true lady and loved her family and country so much.

I admire her for wanting to go out with dignity.

92..I'd do the same..pick to go out at home with family. With all their money they could keep her going for a long time in a hospital.

I loved the comment she made when asked how she compared herself to Nancy Reagan. She said something to the effect that "We're a lot alike. She loves her husband, I love my husband. She had her causes, I have my causes. She's a size 3, so's my left leg."

You gotta love a sense of humor like that.

"At the end of your life, you will never regret not having passed one more test, not winning one more verdict or not closing one more deal. You will regret time not spent with a husband, a friend, a child, or a parent."
- Barbara Bush

, Saw her granddaughter, Jenna on TV this morning. Her family is with her. Being that George Sr is not in best of health, sadly it may see he will follow not long after she passes.
I still remember when George Sr was running for president, my very vain mom (who was about 5-6 years older) had a fit because she did not dye her hair. LOL. Made her look old, mom said. Thought she wore it well.

I remember reading that a grade school teacher was talking about George Bush when he was president and asked the kids what they knew about him. One kid said, "He's our president and lives with his mother". Barbara has said she started getting white hair when she was only 25 or so, and tried coloring it but didn't like it so she let it gray naturally. Takes a lot of guts and great self confidence not to be vain. I bet she and George will die close to each other, that usually happens in long lasting marriages. My mother and father died 10 months apart.

Read how she treated her Secret Service detail. When visiting Maine in the winter she'd ORDER them inside out of the cold to drink hot chocolate and to forget appearances.........DRESS for the COLD and if they didn't have wool stocking caps she would provide them.....whatta gal!
