Bad Day...........

Bad day, took my mother to the Dr...Macular Degeneration..On top of that my claustrophobia kicked in major, had to get in an elevator, I was able to hold it together then when got to the waiting room, the roof was closing in on me. No windows anywhere, I fought through it, then we went back to the examination room, had to ask them to leave the door open, after I located the exit sign I was OK for a bit. Ughhh! Just had to vent for a minute. I survived, now just worried about my mother. I'm not sure why I needed to share but, it helps.

I have serious vision issues myself (keratoconus) so I can sympathize with your mother.

I'm not claustrophobic, but once I was in a tiny elevator with a friend and freaked out. And when I had to have an MRI....OMG.....:eek:mg1:

Hope your tomorrow is better, Seeker. :flowers:

I have my panic attacks on escalators, major highways and driving over bridges!

The important thing is that you were in control and able to manage them!

My mother had MD and it was very frustrating, some days her vision was good and other days it was like looking at the world through a steamed up car window.

Check to see what services for the blind are available in your area. We arranged a visit to my mother's apartment by a local group. They provided some tips and inexpensive items that helped to improve her daily life and allowed her to continue living independently.

Also, take care of your own eyes, my eye guy has me taking a vitamin called PreserVision and he sees me twice a year looking for any signs of MD.

Good luck to you and your mom!!!

That's ok Seeker, it's one of our functions, to make friends and be a friend. I'm glad you feel better.

Venting is good for the psyche. Get it out and quite often it doesn't seem as bad as it did before.

Hope you are feeling better.
I agree.

Vent away Seeker. It will make you feel better.
I have the same disorder and it can be embarrassingly paralyzingly at times but you did what you set out to do so don’t beat yourself up.
In fact , good for you!!!

That's what my man keeps telling me.."You did Good"..I just don't take compliments well...That's not what I look for. I think it's more about understanding..just knowing that I'm not alone in my feelings.:love_heart:

Oh we are scaringly similar.
Luckily we have good men who love us
Nope you aren’t alone. There are a lot of people who go through panic attacks and they can be scary. Not alone at all.

I'm also mildly clautrophobic. Elevators don't bother me as long as they open when they're supposed to. Once one was slow to open and I started to panic. MRI, forget it, I screamed to end one a minute after it started closing in to my face, had a painfull neck growth that turned out to be a boil after all. Even trying to put on or take off a tight top will send me into panic, so no more tight tops. My biggest waking nightmare is the fear of falling into a tiny well, like it happened to this little girl in Texas once. I don't remember if she got saved, I was so upset about her accident that I think I blocked it out of my mind.

I think I know exactly who you are talking about. I believe it was the first instance of live feed..for me, and yes they saved her.

I was never claustrophobic that I knew of, until I went for an MRI. About 5 seconds in that damn tube was enough. I hit the buzzer and yelled I want out. They were checking for a tumor and that was 40 years ago, so I guess it wasn’t necessary anyway.
