Just had two rounds of toast, buttered with real butter, with a heap of grilled bacon in between, washed down with a big mug of tea.......COR, I'm ready to take on the world now........ha ha ha

I can hear all the good advice ringing in my ears about this food not being good for me, but just once in a while I treat myself.......like today.

No I find toast is too dry for bacon....but I'm with you on the bacon sarnie..I have one at least once a week if not more..

I'm on my way round to your house Hollydolly.......mmmmmm.....bacon......ha ha ha

Perhaps we should call this thread 'The Bacon Butty Club'............

Oh yeh.......and refusing to tell a spouse about this thread could bring about divorce proceedings.......ha ha ha

Hi Annie

You asked, "Could you tell us folks over here in the Colonies just what a "butty" might be?"

If you take two slices of bread, butter one side of each, then put cheese or cooked meat or fish or whatever you fancy in between the the bread slices......you have just created a 'butty'.........even better if you toast and butter the bread then put freshly fried/grilled bacon inside them..............oh eh, I'm getting hungry thinking about it.

Go on, Annie, make yourself a 'butty'....and make one for me while you're at it.....ha ha ha

Roast chicken.......now there's a fantastic smell when it comes out of the oven........mmmmmmm.

Thanks - I think we call that a "sandwich" over here....

Whether it be a sandwich or a butty, they are so much tastier when you make them yourself. The ones I've seen for sale in clingfilm in the shops don't look a bit appealing, and even worse, the ones I've seen at small town bus and rail stations which are kept in glass cabinets and the bread all curling at the edges are definitely off my menu. One of these days I may just visit Annie for one of her sandwiches, I know she'll make me laugh so I'll enjoy it more.....:D
