What’s better than Chick-fil-A? How about free Chick-fil-A?

I've never eaten there. My area just acquired one recently.

The fast-food chain is celebrating Cow Appreciation Day on July 10 for the 14th year in a row, giving away free entrées to those who participate.

Anyone interested in scoring free chicken can show up to one of the 2,200-plus participating locations wearing a cow costume or any sort of cow apparel from store opening until 7 p.m.

I haven't eaten at Chick-fil-a, but it's quite popular. I'm not into fast food chicken but maybe I'll check it out sometime. But I refuse to wear a cow costume!

Several yrs ago KFC had a free offer on Oprah, and they were mobbed.

I don't want eat much fast food either but an old fashioned chic fil a with mayo and pickles ( must have the mayo and pickles) is a treat that's hard to beat.

I don't care what they were giving away, there ain't no way I'd go out in public dressed like a bovine......I'd be udderly embarrassed.

Free Chick-fillet if I dress like a cow? Okay, I'm ready.

Some days, after over-indulging, I feel like all I need to do is wear a bell around my neck and I'll be good to go.

Among the many things I'l never understand in this life is the insane long lines at Chick-Fil-A. To me their food is good but not worth waiting in line for . The lunch time drive thru lines are crazy. Along with that mystery is the lust for Starbucks and the undying loyalty for McDonalds. For lunch I'd rather brown bag it or use the microwave at work. For coffee I am not that particular and for McD's I make a better burger than ever have.

I hate their stupid illiterate ads. Are they promoting illiteracy?
Do you know what "illiterate" means, Victor? I had never seen any of their commercials so I just googled it.

I watched 3 Chick-Fil-A commercials and none were illiterate. I thought they were cute.

Maybe they aren't paying Ad Agencies a disgusting amount of money on designer quality advertising because

a) they don't need to

b) because their priorities place the money elsewhere to include Christian values and "giving back" which includes youth, scholarships, fundraising for schools, military appreciation events, donating food, and promoting family with special family events, etc

Here's their "Giving Philosophy"... https://www.chick-fil-a.com/About/Giving-Back

I have never been to Chik-fil-a either, but I have always heard good things about their community involvement.
A few years ago when we had one of those unexpected ice/snow storms, and cars were stranded on the freeways for hours (some overnight before help could rescue them), the restaurant in Birmingham that was nearest the freeway stayed open all night.
They gave free food and coffee to rescue workers, and stragglers that had left their cars and hiked off the freeway and were freezing cold.
People were sleeping on the benches, or anywhere inside that they could find room.
The employees were there all night, too, so they could take care of the freezing storm refugees.

Besides their signature fried chicken breast sandwich, Chick-fil-A also has a grilled chicken sandwich.
Also, for breakfast, they have a smaller fried chicken breast on a biscuit. I used to stop by on my
way to work to buy several, one for myself and a couple of co-workers... it was so yummy. I have
not had one since I retired and sleep late. But I am seriously thinking of getting up early and driving
across town just to get one... they are that good.

Well, you made me do it! :drive::bowknot:. It's only a mile away. I can no longer say I haven't been to fast food restaurants in a decade (except occasionally "Cook-Out" to add a little beef to my diet).

So I went for breakfast and took my place in the long Drive-thru line behind a car with a church bumper sticker. I wondered if lots of christians make up the crowd since the store owner is christian. There was a polite and helpful employee standing outside with a neon traffic vest on, taking orders to speed things along. I told him I'd never seen a menu so he whipped out a short version of just photos of about 6 items...probably to keep it simple for the easily confused like me :D .

I told him someone told me I should get the chicken sandwich (KingsX) but the picture looked dry. I thought it would come with lettuce and tomato or maybe mustard (someone here said mayo/pickle).

He recommended the "Mini's" version but still nothing on the bread except butter. I felt the pressure to decide as cars were bearing down on me, and the dogs were starting to bark at the young man taking the order so I got the mini's. I didn't ask for the 10% senior discount because it was only $3, but thank you for that tip KingsX.

So the chicken was authentic and delicious. The buns were fresh, soft, moist, and tasty but I only took one bite (too much dough so the leftover went in the trash) and then I just ate the chicken bites. So I give it an A for flavor, freshness, and authenticity.

Their fried chicken sandwich comes with only pickles [inside the store there are packets of lots of different condiments
and you can ask for other packaged condiments like honey mustard at the counter] and the fried chicken and biscuit
[which I posted about previously] comes dry [but there are packaged honey and jelly condiments available.] Personally,
I prefer both of them dry. Last time I checked, one can order lettuce and tomato on the grilled chicken sandwich.

Ironically, I woke up early enough today to drove across town for their chicken and biscuit [they also have other breakfast
items.] Even at 9am, there was a big line at the drive-thru.

Chick-fil-A is Christian oriented which is why they are closed on Sunday. But they have opened on a Sunday for special
reasons.... like when they cooked and served free Chick-fil-A sandwiches to air passengers who were recently stranded
at the Atlanta airport due to a major power failure. Below is link to that news story

" Chick-fil-A broke from tradition and opened on a Sunday — and there's an incredible backstory "

" * Chick-fil-A is never open on Sundays.

* The chain sprang into action this past Sunday, however, to prepare free meals for the thousands of passengers stranded after a power failure halted activity at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

* A Chick-fil-A spokeswoman said the company "immediately mobilized" after Atlanta's mayor called to ask for assistance."

You can order any of the sandwiches as a "deluxe" version that comes with lettuce and tomato and a slice of American cheese. They don't put any sauce on their sandwiches but do provide packets if you ask. Their chicken noodle soup is excellent. I also love their lemonade; it's the real deal and sometimes has seeds in it. :D

You can check their menu online before you go again.

Back in the day (50s & 60s) most businesses were closed on Sunday, then GREED kicked in and now places some never, ever, ever, ever, ever close.
