Years ago (2012) my wife & I purchased laminate flooring to resurface our newly purchased home, we wanted to replace the carpet. We purchased the supplies from Lumber Liquidators in Oregon. We had installed it in our previous home, so was somewhat experienced. We spent close to $1,400 for the flooring & had very little trouble installing it. I had been reading about a class action suit that was charging LL with misrepresentation.
I guess they lost their suit, yesterday we were notified that we were on record as purchasers & was entitled to a settlement, either in store credit (?, yea right!) or a cash settlement. The courts will decide how much and set up a settlement date with the company sometime in Oct '18. My wife didn't want to disturb the dragon but me being me I decided to file the claim, which I did on line. It was easy and they had all my necessary personal information except my correct email address, I could edit it to correct the error.
We were concerned that we were walking on toxic floors, but the settlement was an issue with durability & false health claims. The boxes contained promises of durability that weren't up to standards, the box also claimed that they had met the California code for formaldehyde, which they never did but claimed they had. The mail gave examples of reimbursement & I guess I could get as much as 100% back, but the range is somewhere between 30%-100% (probably my cut will be 30%).
