Sometimes when I am stuck with no ideas

R.I.P. With Us In Spirit Only
For dinner, supper, I just cut up a potato, Fry a few onion pieces, add a egg and mix it all up and eat it (All the time remembering it is for survival, not pleasure)..

Sounds good to me, something about the smell of an onion frying gives me the inspiration I need to make a nice meal from what's on hand.

I think in the days before fast food, Uber eats, etc... it was common to do an egg for dinner.

Enjoy!

How coincidental;
I was just wondering if I could come up with 'senior chow', akin to puppy chow.
Something I could make in batches that would keep for a while.
So far, it's trail mix and/or granola.

I do that by making soups, stew, etc., in batches and freezing in meal-sized portions I can just take out, heat up, and eat. I also do the egg thing, or maybe even just some fruit, for a meal when I'm rushed or lazy.

Sounds like potato and onion omelette , Jim... like Wren I'd have to add chopped bacon too... but if you don't have bacon, you could also add chopped mushrooms or even just mushrooms and onion if you have no potatoes... :D

Sounds good to me, Jim. I sometimes like a baked potato for dinner. I think if I lived alone I'd eat a lot of "interesting" concoctions. :D Since it's the two of us I try to cook balanced meals but if I had my "druthers", I could do with a bowl of cereal.

I just cannot cook anything without onions. And lately I have been adding garlic. I haven't used garlic for a decade. But I spotted a package of cloves in the supermarket and decided to give them a try.

But I was wondering about the strength. These are from China. They don't seem to have the kick I remember from years ago.

If you grow them this is the time of year to plant them. Cover them with straw or something and let them go through the winter. I imagine fresh garlic from the garden has to be superior than those harvested a year ago.

When I don't know what to fix, since it's just me, I fall back on "old faithful" and that is a peanut butter sandwich which I love!!!!

Take a couple eggs add some milk in a bowl, mix, take bread and soak both sides add to medium heat, repeat for second slice etc.......serve with maple syrup and butter...

Simple as this Pappy

For one person...
Bear in mind you can add any thing you like to this basic mixture, chilli, or chopped herbs...

2 eggs beaten, with a little dash of milk (don't overdo the milk)...pinch of salt and black pepper
2 slices of thickly cut (preferably white ) bread

Soak the bread in the egg mixture until thoroughly drenched..but don't leave in there too long or it will all go soggy..

heat the oil of your choice, when it's hot but not smoking , add your bread, and cook on a medium heat until brown both sides.

The outside should be brown and crispy on the edges and the inside should be cooked but soft to taste..

French toast:

Second-day bread (or my favorite...sliced French bread)

Eggs
A little milk
Vanilla
Cinnamon
Brown sugar

Mix together ingredients. Dip bread in mixture. Fry in a frying pan.

Now if you are REALLY adventurous, there's also French Toast Monte Carlo:

Mix cream cheese, mashed bananas and raisins together.
Spread on bread. Pinch edges together. Dip in the egg mixture and fry. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
