Wishing you the BEST with your FOOT operation tomorrow JimW

Good idea RR! Those flames would look good on my new knee scooter too. This scooter is really saving my shoulders from a lot of pain. I need a bell and some handle bar streamers though, lol.

Love the scoot, Jim. Definitely go for the streamers and bell! The wheels look too small for baseball cards clothes-pinned to the spokes, tho'.

Can I ride in the basket?

I though about the baseball cards as well. When I'm on the scooter it kinda reminds me of my ole paper route days. Hop in RR!

Very generous my friend. I was thinking a bit closer to $2.75.

LOL... :goodone:...I've heard reports about those knee scooters, apparently they're really useful ... Pleased to hear you're getting along nicely now Jim...

Thanks Holly! The scooter has really been a lifesaver. The crutches make the arthritis in my shoulders feel like someone has a blow torch in there, the pain is really bad. I wasn't going to spend the money on the scooter at first, thought I could tough it out, but it's turned out to be a very wise purchase. My wife agrees as well, because less pain keeps grumpy Jim at bay, lol.

Hop in RR!

careful, Jimmy

I would expect that you will have to do some rehab like I did when I had my knee replacements.

When it is all healed, you can go to the tattoo parlor and have them put a zipper over the scar. A real conversation piece.

Went and got my stitches out on Friday and an x-ray of my foot, the doc says everything looks good! The foot feels pretty good and I'm off the pain meds. I am now wearing an aircast boot for at least a month. Still no walking or driving or any weight on my foot, but we're moving along.

My new foot for a month looks like this:

Very smart looking.

But why not dress it up with a few decorative flames, maybe?

:lol1: Hahahaha. That’s hilarious.
Glad you’re feeling better and that your foot is healing well.
Rad walker you got there Jim but it NEEDS flames like RR says

I will have about 6 months of physical therapy once I can start walking. With all the operations I've had, I'd have a lot of zippers, lol.

I'm glad you're doing well, Jim. I had to wear one of those boots for 6 weeks several years ago. I got REALLY tired of that boot. Do you have to cut the leg of your trousers?

Thank you Butterfly! The boot is a pain but the alternative was a permanent cast, I keep reminding myself that every time I get frustrated with it. It's great to be able to take the boot off when relaxing on the couch. The boot I have fits easily over my pants, no cutting involved.

Thanks Keesha! I've been thinking about putting a beer cooler on the side as well.

Quick update: I went to the Docs two weeks ago and he gave me the go ahead to start putting 50-75% body weight on my foot while wearing the bootcast. I also started physical therapy last week, so far so good with that. I go back to the Docs on Thursday and hopefully he will give me the okay to start wearing regular shoes and possibly driving. Looking forward to driving so I can give my wife a break from driving me everywhere.

Hey Jim. This is great news. You have managed through it this far. Your improvements look encouraging.
I bet you are really looking forward to getting some independence back is good also. You’ll be able to go places again.
This is good news Jim. Thanks for the update and I’m sure you will be back walking soon enough.

Sounds like you're doing well Jim; good to know.

Once you start driving, don't forget to come back View attachment 58804

Thank you ladies! Can't wait to walk the dogs again!

RR

So I have finally lost the boot cast and have started driving myself back n forth to work again. The Mrs is happy beyond words about that, lol. I am walking gingerly with no brace, I still have a good amount of strengthening to do in the foot and especially the calf muscle that was cut to relieve tension. I attempted a short walk wearing a light brace with Wifey and the dogs on Monday after work, but cut it short because I was getting some pain in my calf muscle. But it was still great just to get out and walk again! The calf muscle is very tight right now with the re-alignment of the foot bones and it needs to be both stretched out and strengthened. All things considered, it feels pretty good and I'm right on schedule recovery wise.

Thanks again to everyone for your support! You folks are great!

This is great news! Are you still going to physical therapy? Whatever you do, don't over do it!!!
