Would you eat at a restaurant that was really dirty if the food was amazing?

No. Roaches come in with foosdtuffs and carry disease. If not cleaned they multiply. Flies lay maggots. If the coolers aren't clean you can get food poisioning, I could go on....

Yeah
Sometime in the sixties

The Western Grill
Houston
Open 24/7
I’d go there after my 2nd job
The best chef salad…ever
Large chunks of bacon, eggs, tomatoes, cheese
Until one morning in the wee hours, we found it closed
And about a gazillion dead and dying rats piled up in the parking lot

Rarely, if ever, do we see where the food is prepared.
heh heh

Another
In the eighties
Genghis Khan Mongolian BBQ
Vancouver, WA
My business buddy introduced me to it
We’d stuff ourselves until we couldn’t…..deeelicious
Took some friends to it one night
Happened by the kitchen
Not recommended to happen by that kitchen

Another
Y2K
Tangxia, Dongguan
Just outa Shenzhen

Little open air eatery
Delicious chow Mein
Never had chow mein like that…ever
Never had dog before, either
Never had to ladle flies outa my bowl with my stick, either

I’d prolly go back, but only after another half case of Tsingtao

Lately we've seen some pretty bad looking floors in McDonalds, behind the register and by the fry cooker. Definitely makes me wonder about the manager.

When we eat at Waffle House, we sometimes have to ask to have the floor below the table swept. Unlike some higher-end restaurants, where the clean-up person wipes the table off into a dirty dish bin, there are restaurants, like Waffle House, that wipe the tables off onto the floor. I can't believe that we are the only ones, that we know of, that will ask to have the floor swept under and around the table. I will sometimes look at the "waffle making area" and it can be a mess. They just don't clean it up that often.

Now, a restaurant called Mimi's Café is a higher-end one and they REALLY keep their dining area clean. It's always a pleasure eating there, but the cost of their breakfast is also higher.

Two things I really wonder about...…...the manager of these restaurants, like Waffle House, and some of the people that eat at them. No complaining about how the dining area looks, just sit down and eat there.

If I'm not comfortable with the looks of a place, I'll leave and go elsewhere. BUT ... I've had salmonella poisoning twice in my life. Both times I got it from chicken eaten at outwardly clean-looking, upscale, yuppy-ish restaurants on Florida. A dirty appearance may be a sign to go elsewhere, but clean public areas do not guarantee safety. Just sayin' ...
:eeew:

ETA: I no longer eat chicken at restaurants - EVER!

If the restaurant was really dirty, I wouldn't eat there even if the food was good. I have eaten in some small dinky 'dives', but they didn't appear to be filthy. Like Pappy said, most of us rarely get to see the kitchen where the food is prepared. I figure I can just judge by the area where I'm served and the employees working there.
