Do you have a bumper sticker?

A few years ago, you knew everybody's political persuasion by their bumper stickers. I haven't seen one in a long time. I wonder if they've fallen out of vogue?

Hated them. Years ago, when we took the kids to Enchanted Forest, Storytown or North Pole, they wired their bumper stickers on the front of the car. Always took them off before we left the parking lot.

To each his own but no matter what they've said I've always felt that bumper stickers make a vehicle look trashy......I feel the same way about vehicle windows cluttered with decals.

I had one, mounted on a magnetic backing, on my work truck: "Want to come up and see my chainsaw?" I found it oddly appropriate. FWIW, it's one of three bumper stickers I've ever had. In years past, I had one for my band, and one for my tattoo shop, displayed at different times.

I remember, when I lived in So California, some young folks that moved there from New York, had a bumper sticker that said "I love (a red heart) NY" and that really upset many So California folks. One statement that was going around, "if you love New York so much, move back!".

We do have a small window stick on our rear window that says "Born To Rock"...…...my good old Classic Rock music sticker. Had one on the same rear window that said "Salt Life" (for Florida), but I've taken that off. Wouldn't mind having a window sticker that says "United States Navy" on it and, perhaps, two small window decals of Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper (since we are huge Star Wars fans and our Halloween costumes are Vader and a Stormtrooper).

I had a bumper sticker for several years. I bought one for myself and one for my daughter. Mine said 'FIREFIGHTER'S MOM' Hers said "FIREFIGHTER'S SISTER."

These days I've upped my game. ;) I have a frame for my license plate that says "Mom of a Firefighter." And then I have a vanity plate that says "Dancing Makes Me Happy."

I've actually had folks honk and give me a thumbs up when they're behind me and see my license plate frame. Some people who look like Moms themselves, some who look like Firefighters and some who are just people. I was parked once in a grocery store, and when I came out, I was blocked in by an Engine. I just waited. When the firefighters came out, they apologized, said there was nowhere else for them to park, and figured that as the Mom of a Firefighter, I'd be OK waiting a few minutes for their quick pit stop between calls. Of course!

I like that one, Bonnie!

Years ago, we had a bumber sticker that I liked. It said: "BE ALERT. WE NEED MORE LERTS."

Haven't gotten one in many years, though. But my refrigerator serves as my official family photo album.

Looking back, I remember one vehicle with bumper stickers that I wanted to pull the driver over and scream at her until her ears bled.

It was a 15-passenger van loaded with at least 8 children, ranging from very young up to maybe 12. As far as I could tell, not ONE of the kids were in seat belts or car seats. Kids were standing up, kids were climbing over the backs of seats, kids were jumping around. You get the picture. That was bad enough; that was definitely against the law.

The irony was that while the woman driving was putting these kids' lives in peril with apparently no regard for the law or their safety, the van was absolutely PLASTERED with pro-life stickers....bumpers, doors, windows, etc. "Preserve Life", "Choose Life", to name a few.

I'm all for everyone advertising their preferences in life, but in this case, apparently the mother's desire to "choose life" didn't extend to the ones she already had. If there had been a head-on collision, most of those kids would have died.

OK, off the soapbox.

No bumper stickers, but the back window of the pickup truck cap has insignia for my son's F/A-18 squadron and the ship he's currently serving on. I'm darned proud of him.
