His and hers tattoos.

I don't want to start another argument about tattoos ;)

Ron and I have talked about getting matching tattoos. He has several already, and you know I do, and we've just been chatting about it off and on. I've been doing some research, and Good Lord!!! Some of the tattoo ideas are hideous!

I did find this one site where some of them are actually kinda cool. Still haven't found the exact kind we want, but some of the images here are good jumping off points. One or two of them make me cringe, and the one that says "Her" and "His" causes my inner Grammar Nazi to revolt!!!!

I already have a very small heart behind my ear, must prettier than these, much more subtle. Could be modified to include a small stylized "R" in the center maybe.

Love these thumbprints! Obviously the band around the arm isn't part of the couples image. I already have a dance tat on my right inner wrist, so I could put these on my left one.

I like these too. But I'd put them on a different finger, certainly not my ring finger. Or maybe on my other wrist, or the fleshy part of my thumb? Nah, it would likely fade too fast there. Or perhaps behind my other ear?

Ron shaves his head almost bald, so anything he puts behind an ear would be clearly visible. My hair's short, but long enough that you don't notice the ink behind my ear. Folks who've known me for ages are occasionally startled to realize I have a tattoo there!

Anyway, just thinking about options for whenever we get to this. Anyone who has any ideas, please feel free to chime in!

I would consider the tiniest most unobtrusive version of this idea.

Finger tattoos are ill-advised. We did them at my shop, but warned clients that they would diffuse and/or fade, badly, over time.

Why spoil the nice pure skin you were born with? Is it for YOU to look at, or for others to look at ?

Please believe me: MOST others are NOT interested !

Im not doing it for others to be interested in so the fact that they may not be means nothing to me. The only persons I am interested in pleasing are my man and me.

agreed. I am very careful of where mine are placed. Fading and skin that will sag over time are two primary considerations

I think it’s subtle but sweet.
Its not something I’d want to do but I don’t have any tattoos. It’s not that I’m afraid of needles. I just wouldn’t want to sit there for that long nor do I want to see anything that colourful permanently on my body. My husband wouldn’t want that. He’s got three tattoos that have nothing to do with me and we’ll keep it that way.

I wouldnt want matching t shirts either but once again your examples are subtle and tasteful

off topic, but in the early 60s, my high school girlfriend and I had matching "steady shirts"

At my shop, we saw that fairly often: Once you put someone's name on you, that person figures they are forever with you, and can leave you, physically, but you'll never be able to leave them, laser surgery notwithstanding.

Sounds like fun Ronni, if you both would like the same type of tattoo. Since I like wildlife and nature, it would have to be a nature scene or some type of animal/bird. Maybe something similar to this.

That’s actually adorable.
My sister in law has some tiny discreet tattoos that look really cute.
She isn’t attached so has no matching partner.,

Of course, it's your constitutional right to ink yourself any way you want. But I have to admit I find tattoos to be gross. They fade to a blue mass. And when you're 20, a falcon tat might seem great. But 20 years later that falcon looks like it had a really hard life. I guess I'm a purist. I think the human body is beautiful, and tats just trash it up. Obviously since people are getting tats, they feel a lot different than I.

They don't anymore FB. The inking technology these days is vastly different than it used to be. Those blue masses you're talking about, that I think we've all seen, are either tattoos that were applied a long, long time ago before color was used as extensively as it is now, or they were done by amateurs, whether in a studio or at home (or sometimes in prison.)

I'm not trying to convert you. ;) Just making sure you have accurate information. Treeguy could expand more on this I'm sure.

Mine is around 35 years old, and doesn't see the sun unless I'm wearing a french cut bikini, which I obviously don't wear anymore. :p But it's in light pastel colors and hasn't faded at all over the years, looks just as nice as when I got it.

I somehow missed this when I first posted this thread. SB, do you have a picture of your ink?

Mine is 11 years old and is as crisp and bright as the day I got it. Of course, it doesn't see the sun either, so that might have something to do with it.

Mine is 60 years old and has done everything that old tattoos do. I don't recommend them, especially the Japanese gangster look/wallpaper type.
