    I often still refer to the telephone as 'the blower'. I think it was a term used in old war movies.

    I walked the dog across the golf course (avoiding golfers) over a heather moor and back. Although it was only 1.65 miles there was a fair bit of climbing and rough hillside to tramp over. So, I feel I have made an effort and my Fitbit tracker agrees.

    In the UK, most fossil-fueled vehicles are shift-stick (we call them 'manual'). We did, as a family, have two automatic cars(Volvo) but I was taken with them. I don't know the arrangement in electric cars; I suspect they must have an automatic gearbox of sorts.

    I hope the weather in Georgia is Spring-like; it is here but it won't last. Yes, to speak any other language is a great ambition. I am trying Duolingo which is good but I suspect you still need to have at least the basics to make progress initially.

    Doubtless, your English is much better than my French. Indeed it has been a long time since I visited there. One of my most memorable experiences was to stand on the Champs Elysees watching the parade on your Fete Nationale. We were camping near Calais and took the bus up to Paris for the day...
