YouTube one of the most useful apps we have as seniors!

I watch The History Guy every morning with breakfast if he has a new video. He does 4-5 days a week and sometimes an audio podcast. Been using You Tube for information on many subjects for several years. Car repair, computer repair, and info on my solar panels and solar batteries. Getting...

    What have you bought recently?

I bought a new car. 2024 Toyota Corolla. 34mpg. I will finish paying it off next month. Put a lot down and waiting for a CD to mature to pay it in full. Once I pay if off I can lower the insurance, a little anyway. Also bought a new solar battery.

Has your life been interesting enough to write a book?

I read some biographies and autobiographies and thought it would be fun to write about my life. I believe my divorce changed my prospective on life. More and more of my life seemed regrettable rather than interesting. You start thinking about why you did things, and how difficult it is now to...

Remember when TV was for watching?

I really like You Tube, but they have commercials real often on most programs. Of course, you can pay to make them stop. I cut the cable to avoid paying money to watch TV. Many of the You Tube commercials can be ended manually after a few seconds. Streaming services are either raising their...

    What have you bought recently?

I bought a bigger iPad. I always say I will stop buying things but that doesn't last long. Got $200.00 for my old one and PayPal lets me pay 6-month payments interest free. I really like it; the bigger screen makes it more practical to use. May buy a keyboard for it soon. Those are really...

    Rumors, or more mandates.

I have an illness that causes my immune system to be somewhat compromised and my doctor still said, DO NOT get the covid shot. I got a flu shot and a pneumonia vaccine shot, but never have and never will get a covid shot.

What are you driving while on here?

Recently purchased a new Dell laptop. Intel core 9. I thought it would be faster. For the price it should cook dinner and wash the dishes.

Being 'forced' to use self check out

Walmart stopped offering bags of any kind. You can buy cloth bags in the store. I went through self-checkout and when I hit pay it asked me how many bags I wanted. Are they laughing at me? Tell us how many bags you want so we can tell you to pound sand? I always use my own bags anyway. Where I...

    Rumors, or more mandates.

I really cannot believe there are rumors of more shutdowns and more mask mandates. I really hope the rumors are just that. We will find out how many people are still sheep after all the exposed lies.

Got a Case of the Lonelies, Anyone Else?

Been living alone many years before I retired. Keep busy most of the time. Be nice to have someone to talk to once in a while, but they would have to leave when the conversation ends. 🙂 I guess it's just idle chat unless you're in a relationship. Haven't had one of those since my divorce long...

What age did you retire ..did you retire early ..

Worked in the business my father started after my sawmill job went away. Watched him work until he physically could not. Was at his desk well into his 80's. A workaholic his entire life. I was never a workaholic, even though I learned a good work ethic from my father. Did not save a single dime...

What are you driving while on here?

Just bought a new MSI laptop for $1500. and then sent it back when it started messing up. It got so bad I gave up. High power computers are very expensive these days. I guess my 2-year-old HP laptop is not so bad after all. The Dell I want is $3000. Used to build my own desktops but even that is...

    What are you doing today?

Waiting for my financial advisor to call. Going to start drawing on my IRA. He has talked me out of it many times. Holding my ground today and getting some money. Have to treat it like when they try to sell you an extended warranty on a car. They will break out the hot lights and rubber hoses...

Here Are 27 Reality Checks About Retirement

Oh, it's been poor planning from the beginning. Had nothing saved until after I took out bankruptcy in my 50's. It was only then that I could start saving money and the company I worked for had a plan. They made it sound really good because of the tax advantages. I was ignorant about any details...
