I wonder how many people who won't take the vaccine because it's "experimental" (just an excuse in my opinion) will take a treatment of monoclonal antibodies which is also experimental. And we're paying the huge cost for for it to keep the unvaccinated who get sick out of the hospital.
"The...
I'm going to be rotten here and don't expect you to do it.
Start ignoring him when he talks to you or start telling him you can't hear him and ask him to speak up... and up... and up... Maybe you'll both just have to get your hearing tested at the same time.
But the math bears it out. So, whether it's the truth of reality or not, it definitely needs consideration.
And what of Relativity? And Quantum Mechanics? They're about as way out as you can get -- right along with String Theory.
There's dark energy and dark matter which together make up about 96% of the universe. My pet "theory" (I got it from nowhere) is that there have been an infinite number of universes and what we can't "see" is the remnants of them. Since their physics could have been quite different from ours...
With the new gravity telescope (LISA) or its next iteration, we might be able to see right back to the Big Bang or maybe to just about 3 trillionths of a second afterward.
I can't speak to your first point, Rob. As for your second, that's what I was talking about -- the will to do what's necessary. Even if we could get agreement on what needs to be done, the will to do it since whatever will be costly, difficult, and inconvenient.
I've been binging on Neil DeGrasse Tyson videos from way back. I've also been watching the third iteration of Cosmos (okay. so I'm a bit late). I was in a Zoom talk with Michio Kaku and am now reading one of his books. I, too, am a science geek.
Then I understand your reasoning, Win. There's no contradiction. The flu vaccine is not exactly hit and miss. The problem with the flu vaccines is that they aren't 100% effective (no vaccine is). Sometimes they're more effective than others. As for the strains,
"The seasonal influenza (flu)...
Do you take the flu vaccine? Each year it's newly developed for whatever strain is out there. However, it's based upon technology that's been around a long time -- the same as these vaccines. If you don't take it, that's fine; if you do take it, then can you please explain the contradiction?
Pfizer is no longer experimental; therefore, this part of your argument is now moot. Moderna and J&J are about to submit for full authorization; very shortly thereafter all of the vaccines available in the U.S. will have full authorization. Viral vector vaccines (J&J) have been around...
I volunteer for a local professional theater and was there last night. Their website said one thing; they were actually much more strict. Everyone working there including volunteers had to show proof of full vaccination which went to their security person. Everyone in the theater had to wear...
