100 million dollars in fire aid asked to be investigated

Unfortunately, many of the charities are little more than a means of making their executives wealthy. This includes many of those advertising on TV for 19$/month. Before donating, a person should visit the online sites which track charities....such as CharityWatch.org.

Lawn mowing guy hasn't shown up in 3 weeks

Using one of these would certainly assist in your attempts to lose weight

Happy Birthday To Don M. & Llynn

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. This past month has been rather "trying " for me. I woke up one morning a month ago, and could barely stand. I was rushed to the hospital where I was diagnosed with Pneumonia and Anemia. Since then, I have had multiple hospital and doctor visits. The...

Dehumidifier actually made the room warmer

With this heat dome headed your way, starting tomorrow, and extending for 3 or 4 days, it's a bit late to consider buying a couple of window AC's. Your Only options would be sitting in front of a good fan....if you have one....or checking your area for a "cooling center" where you can hang out...

Dehumidifier actually made the room warmer

The "heat dome" headed your way is right over us, now. We will have temps in the upper 90's, and heat indexes over 100 for this next week. At the bare minimum, you should get a window AC unit...they aren't that expensive.

50 Years Ago Today, It Came to the Theaters, (and scared the crap out of some).

I remember it well. I saw it when it first came out, and have watched it a couple of times on TV. Jaws and Psycho are a couple of movies which peaked my emotions. After I saw Jaws, I have never wanted to swim/wade in an ocean.

Dehumidifier actually made the room warmer

When a dehumidifier compressor is cycling, it releases warm air...not much....but if you feel the exhaust, it will be a bit warm. If you want to cool the room/house, you need to run the AC.

US Senior Citizens Increasingly Dying from Falls

I try to be very careful when going up/down steps/stairs. About 3 months ago, my wife was rushing down the basement stairs and took a nasty fall. I had to rush her to the hospital where they found that she had cracked the socket in her right shoulder. Luckily, it didn't require surgery, but...

    Do you bruise easily?

I'm old and skinny, and my hands and arms bruise real easy. I finally found a cream, "Dermend...$20 at Walmart", that substantially shortens the time that I'm walking around with bruises on my arms.

Do you ever request a "senior discount" when buying goods or services?

About the only "senior discount" we use is when we stop at McDonald's for a cup of coffee. Their Senior coffee is only abut 75 cents, and tastes better than a $4 cup at Starbucks.

Medicaid and Food Stamps may be abolished!!!

Like nearly every government program, there is fraud and waste in Medicare and food stamps. When at the grocery store, I sometimes see someone buying a cart of groceries, paying with a SNAP card, then driving off in an expensive new car/SUV.

    What have you bought recently?

My old Husqvarna riding mower was almost worn out. The engine was burning a lot of oil, and the transaxle was no longer going backwards properly...potentially half the price of a new mower to fix this old one. So. a few days ago I found a new John Deere on sale at Lower's. Between the sale...

U.S. Postal Service Raising Rates July 13th

We only send out a piece of mail 4 or 5 times a month, so a few extra cents is no big deal. We did, however, buy enough Forever stamps to last us for the better part of a year, last week. Their rates for mailing a package have gone up quite a bit over the past year, or two...so if we have to...

    Debt and the Economy

If present economic conditions continue, it is just a question of time before the government has to Devalue the Dollar. If/When that happens, costs for most products will skyrocket, and put half of our population into poverty.

Are you still in the stock market?

Boy...isn't that the Truth! I'm surprised we haven't fallen into a severe recession already.
