    Anyone remember Bob Ross?

I'm a Bob Ross fan. He could bang out a cool painting in 20+ minutes. I really had no idea how good he was till I took a college painting class. While he's saying, "There's a happy cloud here", he was using the same classic techniques that Da Vinci used. He made it look so easy because he...

Unfortunately, when I saw " Blue Peter in the Rain," somehow I didn't expect a train.

I have a query that has plagued me for 50 years

The US Navy has two types of uniform. One is called Blues or Dress Blues, that is the dark uniform, which is worn in winter or cold climates. The other is Whites, or dress Whites, which are, well, white. These are worn in warm climates and summer.

Oh, God! Why are you reading this?

I'm a diabetic. So, I have to adhere to a diabetic diet, which means eating lots of tasty foods is a no-no. I'm usually a good little diabetic. But every once in a while, I get hungry. Then no amount of food is adequate. I can shovel down everything in the fridge as a snack, and still feel...

    Nice folding wheel chair

Watch out for the only "33 lbs". I, too, thought about getting a electric wheelchair. I have a bad back, so I can't lift much. These chair ads will talk about how light they are, but that's without the battery. Throw in anywhere from 30-40 lbs. for a battery, and you have a sizable back ache.

Banned Records - (Not what you think)

One of the few bits of musical knowledge I have is about Sam, the Sham, and the Pharaohs. "Wooly Bully" had Sam shouting "Hand job, hand job". at the beginning of the recording. Then one of the "mothers for decency" types got upset by the lyric. The song was headed for the top ten. So, they...

    Am I having wicked thoughts?

I submitted my DNA. I was surprised by the reactions of people when I told them about my results. Some were interested, but others were upset and rapidly changed the subject. They seemed kind of freaked out by "DNA"??????? I agree with your DIL, maybe a DNA gift is way too personal for some.

    The responsibility of jury duty

I was called for jury duty. I was on several cases, but they were all settled by plea deals. I always thought that I could judge someone just on the facts-no emotions. We, the jury panel, were seated right behind the defendant. He was this weaselly guy. He had this unbelievable gorgeous...

Do you have a "security system"- cameras, etc.?

Those security cameras are pretty cheap now, and there's all kinds of electronic devices. Do you have a "security system"- cameras, etc.? I thought about getting a camera, but I'd wind up with thousands of deer pics.

Oh, God! Why are you reading this?

I had blood drawn on Monday for lab work. I don't know why but every time I go to that clinic, I feel lousy for a few days after. It's kind of like a mild flu.

What are some of your earliest memories ?

My grandfather always had something going on the side, some of it was even legal. I was 3/4, and there was a knock at the door. When my mom answered it, there was my grandfather standing there with a racehorse. It was a beautiful animal, black, shiny, muscular and huge. He wanted to keep the...

    Pokin' fun at yogis

Ah, the things you do for love. I attended a Yoga class with my ex. I can't say I felt serenity, truth, or enlightenment. I thought the drills I did in Navy boot camp at least were made for a human body. My ex just gushed about the class. Neither of us mentioned going to another class.

    What's on your pillow?

I have vintage pillowcases. I'm not sure what they are made of. I do know they were Kmart's finest.

Cremation or burial ? What is your choice ?

A caution about "donating my body to science". While it may seem you have been accepted into the program, it's not something you can count on. Depending on circumstances at your death, your body can be denied. As an RN, I've seen that happen 3 times.
