Oops! I realized yesterday that the dog groomer appointment is Monday mid-day; I texted the dry wall guy that he could work here while I am gone if that's okay with him. He said he will come on Tuesday instead. According to the electrician, what I wanted to do may come back to haunt me later...

    Would You Like Your Receipt?

I pay cash for everything except internet purchases, of course. Like most, it depends on what it is. Groceries? No, except WalMart always gives me one and like @MACKTEXAS said, it's good to have if you are questioned on your way out. I throw it out when I get home. Always keep the receipts...

    I am sorry I can’t do this

    All of the above.

    Cursive script on lined paper

Anyone who had Mrs. Hax in seventh grade English had to mind their p's and q's when writing cursive (required). One wrongly dotted i or looped t on a spelling test and even if you spelled the word correctly, it was counted wrong.

Hallway update: Above the stairwell, cut into the wall, was a hatch door that I thought was attic access. It was poorly fitted and very difficult to reach so I decided it had to go. There are other attic access doors. Contractor came over, removed the door, cleaned up behind it, replaced the...

    Free x-ray to diagnose mesothelioma

Medicare pays 100% for a screening lung x-ray (or is it CT scan?) for anybody who has ever smoked. Maybe it's the same for mesothelioma? It may not cost the law firm ANYthing to do that.

    Free x-ray to diagnose mesothelioma

I read somewhere that the standard homeowners insurance does not cover smoke or ash damage.

    A "poor person hack"

If I see something on-line that appeals to me, I will bookmark it. Now and then I go through the bookmarks and wonder why I wanted it in the first place.

    She's 75 and getting evicted

Cynic that I am, I have some doubts about the story of the 88 year old man. It would not be the first time when somebody made up a story and cashed in on a go-fund-me type of account. First, he has been and is now collecting social security, perhaps not enough but something. Medicare coverage...

    Better Than Sliced Bread!

I did get a notice a couple of years ago about clearing access, with a diagram included. It's such an obvious solution *forehead slap*.

    A "poor person hack"

Utilities, especially heat in winter. I have always kept it pretty cool, in addition to closing off rooms, draining certain water lines, and living in just part of this house. This year, work has been ongoing in that part that is usually closed off so heating that area has been necessary...

    Better Than Sliced Bread!

Someone mentioned it is good for removing snow from cars. Mine stays garaged, however. The worst area to shovel is access to the mailbox for the postal service. My mailbox is about eight feet from the edge of the road and the PO requires a 30 ft. "lane" leading to it. It's a tough area to...

    Better Than Sliced Bread!

This morning, I decided to put away tools and such that won't be needed during winter. The leaf blower was sitting near the front door so yep, it's going into the storeroom till spring. Then I remembered a YT video I had seen a few months ago. This is my third winter here in snow country...

What exercise have you done today?

Shoveled more snow and raked the roof edges.

2025 - How's the Weather Where You Are?

Winter has finally arrived! Five to six inches of snow yesterday, low 30F's all day yesterday but this morning 18F.
