    So many years have passed

I retired in 2002 at almost 66 and proceeded to complete my bucket list trips - multiple countries riding my motorcycle and/or horseback riding, Rode all over the US, Alaska and parts of Canada. as well as Europe and Asia and Japan. Sailed the Caribbean in a sailing ship - a lifelong dream. Had...

If you bought a home 20+ years ago, could you afford it today?

Not a chance! I bought this house in 1978 for $40,000 - putting a fairly large down payment into it (my half of the sale of our previous house when my Ex and I divorced). It is worth over $500,000 now. The monthly payment was +/- $350/mo. I doubled the payments on it the last couple of years and...

Women Only: What are you looking for in a man?

Haven't been looking in more than 20 years - been divorced 3 times and gave up after that. The whole concept of marriage is the problem - not men per se - although there are those with a very misogynistic view of women.

Self checkout - Good or Bad

Between COVID, COPD and my '22 diagnosis of Lung cancer, I avoid even small crowds so I grocery shop on my computer at the local grocery store. Delivery every 8 days at a time I select. It does cost a bit more, but is extremely convenient. Have no real desire to go back to in store shopping. LOL...

Truck crashed into our house today

Wow! How scary! What a pain to have to evacuate your home while being repaired - not to mention the legal mess later

What do you hate about church?

I'm not a fan of any religion - with rare exception they tend to be hypocritical and racist. As a teenager, I joined the Catholic church because I wanted to feel I "belonged" somewhere. I had been involuntarily moved around so much, I felt so completely the outsider everywhere. I rejected the...

Where do you get your hair cut, and how much does it cost?

For many years I used to cut my own hair. Since 2011 my daughter cuts it for me. That's all I ever do to it as I tend to have naturally wavy hair. It gets cut twice a year. :)

Did anyone here do martial arts?

I did until in my early 80's. Had to stop because of a painful hip injury that just would not stop hurting (even today) I started in the nineties after surgery for lung cancer.(thought it would help me heal and be healthier - it did!). It took me a while to find a school that fit - did - then it...

Not sure what happened (motorcycles to scooters)

As an ER nurse, I had a rather strong bias against motorcycles for a long time; however, in my late 40's I was persuaded to buy a small scooter. A short while later, I bought a bigger one. (that proved to not be fast enough for me (I've always been a bit of a lead foot with the car - now I was...

For those vaccinated for covid 19, a question.

I believe it is intended to imply one is blinding ones self to reality. It would more appropriately be a representative of the "AntiVax" school of thought

    Colour hair or gracefully grey?

I decided in High School that I wanted to become a blond, so I got some peroxide and bleached my hair. To my initial disappointment it turned dark auburn instead of blond. I eventually decided I liked it and ultimately switched to using professional dye instead of peroxide. I continued to...

A thread to post touching stories we discover on the inter webs

OMG! That brought tears to my eyes! (later) I just looked up the name of the doctor; apparently the story's fiction - wish it were true - what an inspiring tale.

Alcohol, problem drinkers, and the family…

I was married to an alcoholic who became increasingly aggressive as the years passed. At first he only drank moderately but when we returned to California, he began drinking more heavily - particularly when out of town on company business. When he lost that job and we moved to Sacramento, he...
