My credit score dropped 23 points!

We have used credit cards, to the exclusion of cash (mostly), for 50 years. Having good credit has given us better loan rates and of course, 10's of thousands of dollars in cash back over the decades. We even pay utilities with credit cards. Having high credit score gets us better cc's with...

The USA Penny is going away.

Finally! It's been debated for decades.

Peanut Butter & Coffee creamers may be the cause of Colon Cancer...

Wife and I have been having a daily dose of PB for years. However, we only eat the 'natural' stuff. Nothing but pb and small amount of salt. We have to mix it as the fat floats on top, but it's the healthiest stuff.

    Car Buying: Used or New?

We've always purchased new and used to keep cars about 8 years. But now, with all the improvements of autos in general over the decades, we now have a 10 year old car and an 11 year old car and both are going strong. Boomers will remember how car used to rust out almost everywhere and now, rust...

    What are your favorite quotes?

“You can always count on the Americans to do the right thing, after they have exhausted all the other possibilities.”

What do you guys think of AI (Artificial Intelligence)?

I use the AI available on my pc (Copilot) which has provided me fully detailed information on hikes anywhere in U.S. and Europe (have not tried it for other areas). It's invaluable to me for travel plans which would take me longer to develop without it. I still use 'regular' online sites and...

What do you do when you can't sleep?

Never happens any longer. Once I retired, never had a problem sleeping.

What's your version of total relaxation?

As a hiker of 50 years ---- spending several hours hiking 1-3000 feet up on a mountain trail, huffing and puffing much of the way, then reaching trails end. It might be a 360 view, a mountain lake, a glacier, whatever.

Do you still use your local library?

We use the library primarily to pick up DVD's. We have a large network of libraries and we can order DVD's (and of course, books) from about 15 locations. I also like to walk to the library, prinmarily in winter, and peruse the papers and magazines.

Do you think electronics are getting way too complicated to use?

I agree that many electronics are overly complicated, but you still have choices. I just stayed at an Airbnb that had a 'nest' thermostat and no instructions (I have never seen one other than on ads). I had to keep adjusting it. But at home, I have a very basic programmable thermostat that is...

Yesterday (Jan 31st) Was My Retire-versary. 26 Years And No Regrets. What About You?

Retired at age 57 about 18 years ago. Never looked back. Have stayed in one-and-only house for 45 years but will move to an apartment in the next couple of years now that we're in our mid 70's. Have found a Chicago 'burb where everything is in walking distance, our primary goal for location...

Has anyone sold their home to an 'as is' buyer company?

Convenience. We don't need the money. We've even considered donating the house.

Who agrees? The only good thing about Jazz...it scores highly in Scrabble

Wife and I listen to my Dad's music ---- Big Band Jazz plus Dixieland. Don't care for modern jazz and 'smooth jazz' is just elevator music.

    Living near film locations.

We have had a pretty good deal of filming around here. The best known film is Groundhog Day.
