Remember I asked about Mini Desktop Computers

Be warned, check them out, a lot better
than I did!

I bought a tiny desktop computer and I
got it on the 9th February, I was very
happy with it, it had the latest memory
and is very fast.

BUT on the 22nd April, it started to make
awful noises, my conclusion is that the
fan is too small to keep the CPU cool,
I am running it just now, with an external
fan blowing on it.

Amazon have agreed to accept it to be
returned for a full refund, in order to
save my stuff, I have bought another
one, different make and much larger
than the little stick, this one is 5"x5"x2",
it is just as fast, but the ventilation is
a lot larger, as is the fan.

So don't go for the gimmicky ones if
you are looking at one, get the square
ones.

Mike.

@Mike, be sure and completely erase the hard drive before returning it to Amazon.
Thanks, Nathan, that is forefront in my mind,
I have asked Ashampoosupport for advice on
how to do it, is has a SSD, which I cannot remove
as it is going back, usually that is how I do it,
I have a delete programme which removes all
the bits attached to anything even in the registry.

Will factory reset work?

A Linux Live USB image can be used for completely wiping a data drive. I have not used this, but sounds effective-> ShredOS – Free Secure Disk Wiping & Data Erasure Tool

Yeah. Mini Pc's are prone to problems and there are lots of articles giving suggestions to keep them cool and how to monitor the fan speed. Do you really need a mini? Can you consider one that is small, but not mini. I'm using an HP which is 12"x6".
