Have to replace hot water heater

Central NY
We have to replace our hot water heater with a Nuance brand wall-hung model. The cost is $2600 for removal of the old and installation. Nuance is a tankless water heater draws water directly from the source and heats the water flowing through its coils.

That price seems very low ($800). I'm pretty sure I paid more than that many years ago.

Why are you mentioning this, since you've already made a decision?

Some after savings will be noticed , by way of not keeping ... 40-50 gal of water continuously hot. I changed to a tankless due to the bottoms of my old tank style rusting through & leaking. So far, I like the utility savings & the end of worry over leakage . I had two tanks in 22 years .

A friend of mine who works at H/Depot said that with installation a decent water heater runs just about 1500-2000 dollars. Of course if you can DIY ? about 1000 or less depending on model , scratch& dent etc.
