Great explanation. Thanks!
The average working class family made $40.00/week in 1947 which made the cost of food 30% of your weekly income. So I did the same calculation using my SS income versus what I spend for food a month and it's still 30%. However I'm only feeding myself ( a widow) and my son lives with me. We had to sell the twins and the cat.
Is there any clue as to how it was preserved?A 2,300-year old shoe found on the Altaj Mountains in Siberia, perfectly preserved

The beautiful shoe is now in the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Yep, it was frozen in the ground,Is there any clue as to how it was preserved?
I don't spend anywhere near 30% of DH & my SS on food for the two of us and our dog. 10% would be a lot closer to the mark. The average working class family made $40.00/week in 1947 which made the cost of food 30% of your weekly income.
