Important post, thanks. Unfortunately, in my area and state, the agencies that deal with elder abuse are pretty toothless. On a state site, it related that they had diminished funding for this because they had been "getting inundated" with fake elder abuse reports which turned out to be grown children who were feuding with each other and wrongfully turning each other in for elder abuse; the officers would arrive at the supposedly abused elder's home and he or she was just fine, not being abused at all. I don't know if I believe what the state says; I think unfortunately that elder abuse happens all too often.
