Have a Happy Father's Day

My twin girls are taking me to our local Pub for a few drinks tonight. They'll be 21 in July...Yikes!...Where does the time go?

I've written this before. My quote on Parenthood is...

"Long days. Fast years."

It was lightly raining here today and I went to the cemetery to wish Dad a Happy Fathers Day. The cemetery is huge and I went there after church about 11:45 a.m. and I was only one of two cars in the whole cemetery.

We celebrate very few occasions, just the solstice and equinox and a card for family birthdays. In a few days we're off to Germany for the Johannesfest. This neatly includes the summer solstice, the 625th anniversary of Johannes Gutenberg and St.Johns night. There will be music, food, drink, sports, culture etc... for 4 days along the side of the Rhine.

My father, mother, and sister are all buried about two hours from where we now live (all of my direct family members). I don't make an effort to 'see' them very often anymore, as it is just too far for us to go. I think of them often and especially on father's/ mother's days. We had a good family, and all enjoyed being together right up until the end. Fortunately, I have my own family, and we all are very close. We are 'carrying on' for those we have lost...
