When it comes to relationships does size matter?

I'm 5'4" and DH is 6'. Call me shallow, but I found it hard to be attracted to men shorter than me. In my early 20s I dated a nice Korean kid who was about my height but small framed and thin. I was average frame and weight, but it made me uncomfortable that he was smaller than me. The relationship wouldn't have survived for other reasons, but I remember that discomfort well.

I agree with others who've said that our DNA programs women to look for tall, broad men who would be good protectors, and men to look for hourglass shaped women who appear to be good childbearing prospects.

It's funny you mentioned that, @JustDave, because my height was measured at a recent doctor's appointment. I've always been 5'8" but measured at 5'7". It was a bit of a surprise.

We know it's going to happen. Standing upright strains bones and muscles, but yes, it surprised me too when I finally checked. I was thinking it be a half inch or something, but it was 6 times that.

I cried when I passed 5'7" in the 5th grade. I reached my adult height in 7th grade.
I was teased (bullied?) mercilessly in grade school because I was the tallest in the class. It continued until high school.
And who were the ones with their awful taunts??... guys shorter than I.
No wonder I avoided them.

I am still that height even though I am 70.

I went through the same thing. In grade 7 , I shot up to 5’7” and often wore high heels back then. I got picked on but didn’t care. I loved being tall. It was the shortest people who picked on me so I knew it was merely jealousy on their part.

Did short girls pick on you as well? I'm short, 5' and can't remember ever feeling animosity toward taller girls. For the most part, I thought they were pretty. I mean, models are generally tall, aren't they? What's to pick on?
 
I'm 5' - 11", and before I had my cataracts removed my eyesight was very poor, anyway, I befriended a lady who was taller than me, then I had the cataract surgery done and discovered that the lady was in fact a giraffe. 😊
 
IIn today's world I suppose I might be thought of as short... at 5.4....

When I was a teen I went out with a guy my heght, I really thought he was gorgeous, but I was put off him, when one night as we walked towards friends of our in the dark lighted only by street lamps.. one said.. ''you looked like 2 kids walking up the street ''...

Both my husband's were 5' 10''

I think in todays' world 5'4 now seems to be short , the girls seem to be so tall these days. My neighbour's 12 year old is as tall as me.. and the 9 year old not too far behind......also in the petite worl clothes here at least are to fit 5 ft to 5'4
