Would you like to, or do you, have a Wikipedia page?

Prefer to remain mostly hidden from the public and media until and if I decide to publicly exhibit my photography work using large 8k pc monitor displays. Note have had a web page since 2005 that I fully manually code all the HTML code for that can be moved anywhere unlike with most web hosting sites.

Many years ago... late 90s maybe? when it first started, anyone could make or add a Wiki about themselves and as far as I know, there was no way to establish what was true. If I'm not mistaken, anyone could also edit Wikis that were already there. I sure hope they've fixed that... it was crazy! Anyhow, would I want one about myself? Nope!

I don't think I'll ever have one. I have no kind of page.

Long ago, I signed up for Facebook and was "approved" (hahaha - how nice!) but before I could ever use it, they took down my account because I used an email to sign up - which was okay per their sign up instructions - but apparently they wanted a phone number as well or instead of.

I didn't pursue it because the only reason I wanted a Facebook account was to be able to view pages of businesses that have no website of their own - only a Facebook page. Maybe I'm better off sticking with businesses that either have a website or have been recommended to me by someone.

It bothers me that most of the churches in my town have all their information on Facebook so that people like me who don't belong can't find out what time the services start.

Yes, and during the covid lockdown, my church only had services on their Facebook page. Every time I tried watching them, I was battling difficulties since I had no Facebook account. Sometimes I could refresh the page multiple times and see it, but soon after, lose it.

Yikes! I just checked, and Wiki still says this:

"Welcome to Wikipedia

the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit."
That's why I generally do not trust it. Surprisingly enough—or perhaps not so surprising—some authors (i.e., in academic fields) try to pass off Wikipedia entries as legitimate sources. Ummmm, no. The publishers prohibit that, thank goodness.

I get frustrated with businesses that have only a Facebook page and not a formal website. I'm not sure what sticks in my craw more: (1) that I can't access it because I don't have Facebook or (2) their implicit assumption that everyone has an account.
