A flower a day ...

Not too long ago Foxgloves were posted and I recalled seeing some I liked a lot at the FILOLI estate garden in Woodside but couldn't locate them. Here they are.

My lily is getting a bloom! I've had it for about 1 1/2 yrs. Thought I'd show a pic of the bud because I always see pics of the opened blooms. Actually, someone gave me the potted plant and I divided it. It was not blooming when it was given to me. I now have 3 medium plants and 2 small ones. I had to learn that they prefer diffused lighting. It keeps their leaves dark green.

From our backpack on 8/26/2025 under cloud overcast light with rare mid afternoon calm, necessary for focus stack blending. A seep stream jungle of tiger lily's, monkshood, and a few Sierra arnicas, Sierra Rein orchids, and corn lily's. Downsized for web from a 7100 by 6100 pixels focus stack and stitch blend original.

Only noticed these today ( it’s been bone chilling cold outdoors )

these are in pots under the garaport where we previously stored our caravan.

I dont know the names of them as I’ve growth them from cuttings ..they are sorta semi drought proof
I’m sure @MarkD will know what they are called
Each spring the garden centres seem to have different colours …and do grow out in full sun

I also love these flowers. They are easy to grow. I looked at my pot and it said Kalical. I then looked online and saw them called Kalanchoe, a form of succulent plant. Notice how thick their leaves are.

Here are two flowering bushes in my backyard. They both came from the same planting I brought with me from my previous house years ago. One has white flowers and the other has pink. I guess the soil changes their color?

They look like hibiscus to me and I like them too. There are tropical ones in colors which can shock your eyeballs but also some that do okay in my area. However they want more sun than my location offers in abundance. Here is one I admired in a greenhouse at Longwood gardens.

I've mostly grown near relatives which can do better where I am. I grow a lot of Abutilon and used to have this one, A. tridens in the garden. Sometimes I have to remind myself that perennial doesn't mean immortal. Some Ablution really show the kinship to hibiscus.

Yes they have nice thickish / very shiny leaves , when I was given the cutting of the yellow one it was out in blazing 40c Aussie ….heat ..it looked rather sad but still grew …/ flowered

I seen dark purple one today at our local foodland but they wanted $18 , it was waterlogged / half dead looking thanks for the name @palides2021 sounds like @MarkD might get himself a plant or 2 or 3 or 4 :):):):) now we know the name of them ( I cut them back after flowering as they tend to look “ leggy “) if they are not cut back
