What do you make for dinner?

This evening will be a favourite, cottage pie. It's not a pastry pie, it's ground beef, cooked with carrots, peppers (capsicum) onions, garlic and anything that takes my fancy, placed in a casserole dish with piping hot creamed mash potato spread over the top, all of which goes under the grill until golden brown.

I am proud to say as an American, I know the difference between Cottage and Shepard Pie. So many do not believe me when I tell them.

I don't know why so many people have difficulty with it... Shepherds = sheep ( lamb )..... Cottage ( beef) pie
I know, I guess because here in the states they always make it with ground beef but call it Shepard, no idea why it began like that here. Not that many people buy lamb unless it's a special occasion. BTW, what I loved most about England was the sausage... OMG to die for. I spent 2 hours in a sausage shop trying to make up my mind there were so many varieties, The owner said "OK Yank, here's another plate of samples for ye, do hope you plan on taking some home though"

an added part of the sausage store visit I remembered as I was eating dinner.
I guess my face was expressive on which ones I really liked and the keeper says,
Now we aren't going to have the people passing by think a scene from Harry Meets Sally is going on here are we?
I looked at him "I tell you what if any makes me recreate that scene, bag it, I will take the whole lot"
I thought he was going to die laughing. He was a fun man.

Does anyone like/eat lamb? Ron had never had it! When I was young back in Australia we would eat it all the time. Lamb roast, lamb chops, made with my Mum’s mint sauce. Yum!

I introduced Ron to it two or three years ago on a whim. We had lamb chops, also with my
Mum’s mint sauce recipe. Ron thought it was delicious!! So we have lamb now once or twice a month, either chops, or ground lamb that I make into patties like a chopped steak.

He says lamb is one of his most favorite meals, and I think a lot has to do with the mint sauce I make.. none of the jellied mint that you can buy in the store.
