GG...you describe perfectly how it happens! I love your term for things....Horizontal Surface Disease (HSD)!@Ruthanne Does your area...city, county...have a Council on Aging or something similar? The name of the organization varies from place to place. Contact them and explain your predicament. Often they can get you moved up on the waiting list, depending on your circumstances.
When my brother had to have a place with just a week's notice, his local council got him moved to the top of a very long list. He was in his new apartment in a few days.
@OneEyedDiva I call "the creeps" Horizontal Surface Disease. If it's a flat surface with space available...it gets covered up with whatever is in my hand. And if what I put in that space is flat, chances are good that something will get put on top of that, too!
It's actually warm here this morning. Not warm like spring or summer, but32F. That's a whole lot warmer than it's been for more than a week. I'll take it! And it's sunny, too. We're going to have a heat wave this afternoon. The temp is expected to get to 46F. Woohoo.
I don't have a plan for today. I'll have to think on it.
Gelato. It's what's for dinner right out of the carton because I can![]()
Did you lose power though? I hope not.Gelato. It's what's for dinner right out of the carton because I can![]()
Saving $250 per ticket on seeing Si Cranstoun tickets is a great deal. I admit, I never heard of him before.
Si??? You mean Si from the Dualers? I remember them, they used to busk around Romford, Croydon etc. Their father, Bill, was a Jamaican music promoter (Savoy Sound Systems). I believe their mother was from Sierra Leone and they grew up in South London.
It's a travesty that Si Cranstoun is still playing local gigs. The first comment on his YouTube video sums it up precisely:
"This cat is a Superstar! Sing, composes, dances all brilliantly! No one can touch him today, but has not gotten the break!"
What a great singer he is OneEyedDiva! You have a talented family.I finally made my plain loaf of bread today, which I had intended to do over the weekend. It came out good, but when I cut it, it starts to shred and this time I followed the recipe exactly. I spent some time on Ancestry today. My good friend "Tee" whom I call Li'l Sis has been instrumental (pardon the pun) in producing my music videos, building my family tree and helping me understand all of that genealogy stuff. I'm still overwhelmed by it plus haven't been able to find information about my maternal grandfather.
One interesting thing that happened is that a 3rd - 6th cousin on my paternal side messaged me. Ancestry didn't narrow it down, Tee thinks due to the DNA markers, he's likely a 3rd cousin. Doesn't much matter to me. We don't do that 3rd cousin twice removed stuff.... in my family if you're blood, you're blood. Anyway, he's quite a talented singer as evidenced by his YouTube video.
Thank you for your message Diva. I bet there are lots of people who have experienced noisyness in these apartments everywhere.I am so sorry you are going through this Ruthanne. I know what it's like to have a noisy neighbor. Shortly after I moved here almost 55 years ago, there was a nurse who had two small children. She also had friends who had small children. Sometimes the noise they made was unbearable. I reported her to the board, but they did nothing. Someone said I should call the police, but I really didn't want to do that. One night I was sleeping and right up over my bed, it sounded like someone dropped a big box of heavy books hard on the floor. Blam!!
I started looking for another apartment, but the rent was so much more than what we paid for our carrying charges here and I was "Poor Girl" back then. My father suggested I move to a new complex, but it's in an area that even back then, wasn't so good. It's worse now, so glad I don't live there. I decided to tough it out and she finally moved out. I found out years later that she had died at a fairly young age. The neighbors who moved in had two boys around my son's age. You'd think young boys would be noisy, but they hardly made any noise at all and I was so grateful.
Maybe the list will move fast and you'll get in sooner than expected so you can get away from those terrible people!
