really ?..in the UK they wouldn't have a leg to stand on... once you've left the store.. it's their loss...
That may be true here, too. However, I do quite a bit of business with them, they know my name when I walk through the door, and they are always helpful so I don't want to do anything to jeopardize a really good relationship. He was really nice when he called, "no rush" he said.

well that's different if they know you already...

What I meant was here..if a supplier makes an error then it's their loss.. generally speaking..

It's another glorious sunny day if a little breezy.... blue, blue skies, perfect Spring day.... temp 58 f....🌷 ☀️

Had 2 new hanging plants pots for the fence delivered today...

The spring lambs are here and healthy......I can't get too close to them or the mother bolts... so I had to zoom in quite a bit

Have the best Thursday you can folks.... 🌼🌻
Beautiful ❤️ I want to live there!

Received a call yesterday from the local hardware store/lumber yard. Seems they didn't charge me for everything when I did the last pickup of materials. At that time, I thought it seemed less than expected but just paid and left. Today, I will go in and pay them the $40 I still owe. Will stop at the local grocery store for a couple of items, which never ends up being a couple of items but oh well.

It's already 80F! At 9:00 am! Crazy weather for this time of year.

When our small business had a retail component, I double-checked over every transaction after each of our 25-ish per year, large retail sale events. If an error of more than $10 was made to our detriment, I called the customer to explain the problem. No one ever decline to square up and pay what was owed us, despite it being our error.

Accidentally overcharging customers by more than a dollar or two also merited a phone call. Our customers were impressed by our honesty when I'd apologize for our error and offer the option of a refund check or a credit on their account.

Like @GoodEnuff and his hardware store, our customers were regulars who bought from us at least a couple of times a year, either in person or on line. Sure, they could have declined to pay what they came to realize they owed, but that would have reflected poorly on them.
