As part of our Florida room build, we’re re-doing the flower garden that runs the length of the porch, which was created with a low red brick wall that was crumbling and unsightly. And also part of the wall was going to have to go anyway because the firebox for the fireplace we’re putting in needs cinderblock support which Ron’s been building. He worked on the firebox support while I worked on the wall.
Found some really nice looking border stones at Home Depot, and I set to work with a sledge hammer demolishing the old wall so I could build the new one.
My uncle was a bricklayer and enjoyed having me help him, so I learned to lay brick when I was 10!
Ran out of mortar, I’ll have to finish the cementing tomorrow, but I’m pleased with the way the stone looks!
Now, if I can ever get my back to work right again, we’ll be good!
